    • Jessica

      That’s what I m afraid off. $5 bear with $45 on clothes

      • Lisa

I look at kid consignment sales and local thrift/resale stores for build a bear items! I got a buzz light year costume and saved for when we went to Disney World, and used birthday rewards to save on a Dino at Build-A-Dino at the TRex at Downtown Disney.

    • Laura

That’s insane! Why would any parent buy all the extras??

  3. Jen

Pampers rewards have 25$ build a bear gift card for 2700 points.

  4. Dany

I just want a naked hazelnut bear for the backseat of my car, so I have someone to talk to. No? $5?! Great deal.

    • Laura

Dany, why yes! Everyone should have someone to talk to – $5 is a steal πŸ˜€

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Lol! πŸ˜‰ Yup! Great deal!

  5. Heidi

I wish my little guy was old enough to do this, looks like fun and great deal for these bears!

    • Lauren

I’m sure you could buy it now and take it back whenever you want to stuff it

  6. jax

Can they stuff these or they come prestuffed?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You stuff them in the store πŸ™‚

    • Denise

You can take it back later and get it stuffed, but I wouldn’t wait to long no matter how young your child is. There are no parts to pull off and choke him.

  7. Ashley

now the questions is do I drive the 50min it takes me to get there to buy a $5 bear?

    • Just Me

      Lol yupp. Same question

  8. melissa

I plan to buy 5 as Christmas gifts. I may need to come back and get a few more for the great price!

  9. Julie

Hmmm I can see myself going into the store, and telling my 3 year old that he can only have the $5 bear, and watch his eyes fall on all the other animals he would rather have instead, and then tell him he can’t have any extra outfits or the little voice box that you can record into, etc. I guarantee at least half the parents that go in with their child attempting to leave with just a $5 bear end up with a $40 unicorn, tiger, etc. instead. Crafty tactic build-a-bear, crafty tactic.

    • Sandy

      Absolutely! Well said!

    • Oshea

Mine are only getting the bear. I may take them back at a different time for the clothing. I’m sticking to my guns. Clothes cost just as much as theirs if not more.

  10. Jill

Just a heads up….I talked to someone who works at Build-a-bear and they said that the stores do not have very many of these bears. She told me that their store only had about 20 if that! So if you have a long drive, you might want to call first.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the heads up Jill! Good to know!

    • Sarah

They have 20 of the limited edition ones that have the logo on the foot. But there are plenty of the regular bears for $5 each.

    • Denise

I live in Aurora, Illinois. I bought 5 the max. People were buying 2-4. They came out and filled the bins twice while I was there. So ours had a lot more than 20.

  11. Jess

I’m going to buy my cousins son one for his birthday with a $5 BAB happy birthday tshirt. $10 is our price point for birthday gifts and this is perfect!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome gift Jess!

  12. Dawn

If you do this, just buy the bear unless you really wants to purchase an outfit anyway. Your kids don’t control you 😊 Just say no, sheesh. I’ve been disappointed that BAB clothing and animal prices have gone up so much over the past year or two. They’re not even worth it with the $5 coupon for birthday club to help

    • Just Me

I did the buy one get one awhile back for a bday party. It was expensive and those animals will be going home naked! Hahaha

    • Danielle

Exactly! Ours will definitely be coming home without any extras. I can make them outfits at home out of leftover fabric for free. No need for expensive outfits here.

    • Terri

Here’s a suggestion for cheap BAB clothing. I shop at local thrift stores or Goodwill and find BAB stuffed animals with outfits all the time (sometimes including shoes). The price is usually around $3 for the animal and clothing, and I normally just donate the stuffed animal back afterwards.

      • Kathy

As far as dressing my son’s bears, we go to Walmart in the baby section. Sometimes, some good clearance items.

  13. Krissy

Are these available at outlet stores as well?

  14. Jamie

    Canada stores too??

  15. Melro

If you buy these to donate around the holidays, do you stuff them ahead of time and put them in the box? What do you do with the birth certificate?

    • Tory

We have donated some during the holidays when I caught one of the good sales. We Smead them stuffed and just donated them in the box with the certificate.

  16. shelby

so really its 5 dollars for a bear?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes! Such a great deal! πŸ˜‰

One thing to save $ I did last year for my daughter’s birthday (and even learned about this deal through hip2save) – bought the bear unstuffed online (think was a $12 bear for 40% off) and then 2 cute Disney outfits when they were 2 for $15 and a pair of clearance shoes. I went to BAB and got a bag from them to put the clothes in with tissue paper. I made a cute “invitation” that showed what it was about and her bear/clothes (word document). The day of we took her to breakfast and then to BAB (weekday morning and we were the only ones there) – she got to do the whole bear making experience and then I gave her the special bag (she hadn’t seen the clothes yet in person so was just as excited) and she did the washing/brushing/dressing at the little table. I told the sales girl that I already had the items right when we arrived and she was very accommodating. Less than $25 total for bear, 2 cute outfits and shoes – and she still got the whole experience. She was 3 so not into the asking for everything in the store yet.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Wow! How awesome! Thanks so much for sharing how you were able to save at build a bear!

  18. Ashley

I have a birthday reward for $5 off any purchase! I’m so excited!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome! πŸ˜€

Went before the store even opened, line down the mall. Sold out within 10 minutes. People stayed in line which was nice and I got the four I wanted for my four kids. Will save 3 for Christmas but the 2 year old and I will go back later today, hopefully, to stuff it. Great deal but only if you got there early.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Happy you could snag them before they were sold out! Thanks for sharing!

  20. AmandaG

Boise had 200 grabbed two unstuffed, got in and out in less Han ten minutes. Short line out the door. I had a $10 reward and only paid .60!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      SWEET!

  21. Guggie

More like national marketing scam! The line was there as the store opened and they turned most of them away. What a disappointing joke.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh darn! Sorry to hear your store ran out so quickly πŸ™ Thanks for the feedback!

  22. Kristen

    We had an amazing time…thanks!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

SO glad to hear that Kristen! You’re very welcome! πŸ™‚

  23. Andrea

Super long line to get the bears stuffed right when they opened. But, just to buy the bear didn’t take that long. My little one is going back with Daddy this weekend to stuff her bear when it is less crowded. We can’t wait! It supposed to rain this weekend, so it will give us something to do. Thanks Collin. Great deal!

  24. Denise

You can buy now stuff later. Take your kids get the bear, but don’t stuff it. Problem solved. You can go to counter buy bear walk out, go back and stuff later. You can buy up to five at one time. Go back without kids and give as Christmas gifts.

  25. Yvonne

    Sold out by noon😣😣😣

  26. Redgoldfish

I managed to buy the vanilla and hazelnut bears online $5 each. Seems like it was an online price mistake, since was supposed to only be in store. By the time I placed my order, the bag showed each bear as $10 each, although the item page still listed it as $5. But I placed the order and customer service adjusted the price for me! She was surprised that it was available online too. Shortly after, the product page changed to list them each as $12 each! I was really excited since I had a gift card and my closest store (NYC) recently closed.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      That’s awesome! You’re so welcome! πŸ™‚

What a scam! We went right after preschool, 2 hours the store opened and they were sold out. I did not buy another bear, like they wanted me too. My son was disappointed, but I was mad and wasn’t spending a penny there. We do not live in a big city, and they should be better prepared regardless.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So sorry to hear they were sold out πŸ™ Bummer!

  31. Melissa

Darn it, sold out in boise too!

  32. Kshauers

We went around 1:45 they had sold out of the Bears but did have puppies they supplemented with, I think we went just in time cuz while we were waiting in line for the bear to be stuffed to hear they said “sorry we’ve ran out” each one of my girls got one they were thrilled!

    • Kshauers

I ment puppy* to be stuffed πŸ™‚
