I’m super excited this project as it was easy and turned out so cute! Plus, I had all the supplies on hand to make a couple, so it was FREE for me. Hooray!
My kids LOVE this and can’t wait for Trick or Treaters to show up for Halloween! I placed them right outside our front door and you can see it from the street! So fun!

Lina, thanks for sharing. Those ghosts are adorable. Thinking I could stack a tomato cage on top of another to make a taller ghost….wish I had you for a neighbor!
Oh thanks Jill! Very sweet comment π
Way too cute!! I think I have everything here as well too…..nothing better than free decorations that the kids will love!! Thanks again Lina!!
I agree! Sure – have fun. π»
And with Walmart putting out their Christmas decorations LAST WEEK…you can buy the Christmas lights if you have yours packed away, or don’t have any white lights! π
Right! My 3 year old is stuck on Christmas ever since she saw decorations at WM. π©
And ive also seen the cages used as christmas decorations- wrapped in lights and/ or garland to look like trees
Yes! You can roll it right into Christmas! Great idea Kelly π
So adorable and thrifty!! I love your post and ideas. Thank you for all your tips and tricks! Just like Coleen you are such a blessing!
Oh that’s so nice! Thanks for reading π
You can also wash the white sheet in Rit Whitener and Brightener for them to glow under a black light if anyone does haunted houses.
Oh that’s a fun tip – thanks!
Gracias! I think that is a great idea!! Thank u.
You’re welcome Lucy!
Will the lights not get too hot against the fabric?
Hmm not sure. Mine happen to be LED which don’t get hot.
I have tomato cages that are in 5 gallon buckets from growing tomatos this summer. I will cut out the old tomato plants and put the sheet over the whole thing. Great idea, thanks!
Somehow this year we are still generating tomatoes in Ohio! Cute idea, Lina!
Sure Jeanie! Sounds good π
Can anyone suggest the best place to buy a cheap white sheet, I’m probably the only person that doesn’t own white! thanks
You could start with a thrift store since it’s just for this project, or maybe a discount store like Ross. π
I love these my son and I made them together! As I was getting ready to put them outside I started to think I need to stake these down. No problem I have stakes. Then I thought the wind is going to blow these sheets off. I decided to use clothes pins to clip the sheet to the cage. All set! Going to rain tomorrow let’s see if the sharpie runs…
Oh you are super smart!
My sister made these several years ago and brings them out each year. They are so fun and easy!
What size sheets work best?
Would a white plastic tablecloth also work draped over? Like one from the dollar tree? I hate to waste a sheet on this
Great idea! I bet it would π
Those DT tablecloths are pretty thin. I think the points on the top (bottom?) of the tomato cage would tear them. They might work if you keep them inside. At least with the sheet, you could fold it up and get several years’ use out of it. π
I am using a dollar tree round plastic white tablecloth and then got a package of cheesecloth to put over the plastic for a more realistic look. For the head I got a big styrofoam ball they sell.
That is really a cool idea. We’ll have to try it.
Did these last night and my kiddos had a blast with this super easy project! Thanks for the post! Made our night!
Thatβs so great! Thanks for sharing! π
