Is Kindle just reading, or does it have games as well? Looking for a tablet for my 3 year old.
The kindle is just books. The kindle fire for kids is around $100 and is able to do books, games, and videos. My kids both have a kids kindle fire and love them.
Ok, thank you!
My daughter has this and she plays lots of games, books and videos.
Maybe I spoke too soon. Hers has Kindle Free Time that came on it free for a year and that’s where she gets her games, etc.
More than likely the “regular” tab will be on sale soon, or at least no later than Thanksgiving. We got our kid’s one for I think $69 for the bundle last year. Only had to return one thanks to Mr. “no mom I DO IT!” and busting the charging port. But hey overall I LOVE the kids Kindles. Not really for me as it’s not fast enough and doesn’t do some of the things I would like but it’s PERFECT for them!
After having several Kindle Fires over the years, I would recommend just a standard Android tablet for kids instead. They don’t have to be super expensive. While the Kindle store has a lot more than it used to, it’s still nowhere close to having the amount of content as Google Play. However, I realize this is for the reading-only Kindle. I personally have had one for years, and now that my 7 year old is past the picture book stage & is a vicarious reader, I may look into this for him. You can read text-only books on the Fire, but it’s not at all the same.
Thanks for the feedback Rebecca! Good to know!
If you’re looking to purchase the basic kindle for yourself, this kid’s bundle would be a better buy if you want a case as well. Another plus is this version is “ad-free” which costs more in the adult version. Plus you get a 2-yr warranty.
That’s what I was thinking as well… I like to read in the bath so I get the warranty to cover the oops (hasn’t happened yet but you never know)… this is a great package deal
