Target: Halloween Spooktacular Event on October 29th, 10AM-1PM (Free Goodie Bags & More)
Heads up Target shoppers!
On Saturday, October 29th from 10AM-1PM, Target will be hosting a Spooktacular Halloween Event where kids will receive free goodie bags and other giveaways when they wear their costumes!
Please make sure you call your store ahead of time to confirm that they will be participating. Note that TargetExpress stores do not participate in this event.
Im glad they still call it halloween. I was sad that my childs school doesnt use that dreaded H word bc its offensive to some ppl so now they have “fall parties ” instead. Ugh.
I Agree!!
How old are you? My schools did this when I was a kid—–decades ago.
I’m shocked at that! I thought only Christian holidays were being censored. Nobody has had Christmas parties or Easter breaks for years now. I didn’t know they applied that to Halloween now also. It’s not really a fall party if you have witches, ghosts, skeletons and the like. We celebrate fall in our family but don’t do the scary parts of Halloween.
Who cares?! You know you can still call it what You want? Everyone is not the same.
Totally. Does it really matter? You can celebrate what you want & call it what you want.
My daughter is in elementary school and they still celebrate Halloween with a parade and a party.
Wow I never heard that, my kids’ schools still calls it Halloween bash/party. 🙁
My kids school has Halloween parties and the whole school parades around town in their costumes-teachers and parent volunteers included. They also bring Santa to the school to take pictures with the kindergarteners. I’m so glad they aren’t worried about offending anyone.
Last year, my local Target participated in this event. They really didn’t give much a of a goodie bag. The only thing noteworthy was you got a picture taken next to a cardboard cutout of a monster.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Most of the Target kids’ events that I’ve gone to have been the same as what you’ve described. Thanks for posting H2S, but we’ll take a pass on this one.
Agreed. We did it last year. My son got 1 candy, 1 sticker, 1 tiny toy, and something else small. He was disappointed. Not worth it in my opinion.
I tried this and my kiddos didnt get much but a candy and picture. I also signed them up for Michaels and they didnt get to make the trick or treat back as pictured and they said picture painting which never happen. They also only gave 1 candy out. I did get a refund along with alot of people though. I will be doing activities with them from home instead.
Rose, we had the and experience last year at Michael’s. They weren’t even set up! My kids were so sad :'(
We also did this last year. I think my kids were the only kids in costumes and adults were participating too. I don’t think we got any candy at all. We didn’t get a photo either! Maybe they will be more organized this year?
Slightly off topic but does anyone have experience with the Kroger Halloween event? My local Kroger is having one the 27th & I don’t want to get my kids dressed up & bring them out on a school night if it’s not really worth it.
At my Krogers it is usually about 7-10 candy stations scattered throughout the store. There is a little game it seems that goes with each one. Bowling, catching candy with a fishing pole, face painting, coloring pages, a balloon, etc. Krogers is between my kids daycare and home, I just put their costume in the car and stop on the way home. It isn’t a big thing…but my little kids enjoy it. FYI…there were a lot of kids not in costumes…still enjoying the Halloween fun.
We did this last year and they didn’t care if kids were in costume (how can they require that and turn kids turn who just happen to be in the store). We were given a bag and a map. There were 5 stops on the map. My son got a sample size granola bar, a littlest pet shop animal, a tattoo, a piece of candy, and a sticker. Our store also had Halloween cookies in the bakery they were giving out but I don’t think it was connected to the event. It isn’t worth a special trip but if you happen to be there that day it is OK.
Thanks for sharing your experience Charmel! Good to know!
We had the exact same experience at our target too. They also gave us a bag of popcorn. Our kids had fun. 🙂
We went 2 years ago and they gave each kid a pumpkin bucket. Employees had stations set up in different departments around the store with treats for them to trick or treat! Then they had a Halloween display where an employee took each kid’s picture and you got to come pick up the free 5×7 later and it was a costume contest too. Hopefully this year will be similar. Our local Giant Eagle also has a nice trick or treat scavenger hunt.
How fun! Thanks for the feedback!
I took my daughter last year, and she actually got a ton of candy and granola bars, but we got there about 15 minutes before the end of the offer time. The employees at each station have her multiples of just about everything because they were starting to clean up. Might be worth checking out if you are heading there closer to one!
Sweet! Thanks for sharing Jenn!
Still going just because I live close to target. Saw that pokemon and the Lil genie brands are handing stuff out and right now my daughter is a huge pokemon fan. Sure she will love anything free from them!!
These events are usually bogus. No one knows what’s going on or cares. We stopped going to all of them. They just do it for advertising imho.
My toddler had fun… she likes stickers and stamps. She liked the attention she got in her costume. I imagine kids outside toddler range would not be impressed but we are going this year again.
I enjoyed letting my toddler do this last year! Can’t expect much from a store! The few pieces of candy/granola bar, stickers and tattoos made my toddler’s day!! Think seeing him happy was well worth it!
Am I the only one that thinks these halloween events are getting completely out of control? I’m all for celebrating halloween and/or fall but I feel like we’re teaching our kids to be candy hoarders. Everything doesn’t need to be commercialized. Trick or treating is for neighborboods, not retail stores.
We went last year. Got there for the last ten minutes or so I thought. There was no sign of any event going on. I was finally directed to area where it was supposed to be happening and no one was there. Nothing, no one, employees did not know what I was looking for lol. I will call stores nearby beforehand this time to confirm event and actual hours they are planning to have it at 😊
