Love Photo Canvases? Here’s How to EASILY Make Your Own at Home…
Love photo gifts and photo canvases?
Make your own photo canvases at home with this EASY and FUN method using Mod Podge decoupage and photo prints. This is my one of my all time favorite crafts and the result is a beautiful photo canvas you can keep for yourself or give away as a thoughtful personalized gift!
The supplies are inexpensive and easy to find as well!
DIY Photo Canvas
Supplies Needed:
- Mod Podge
- Craft Foam Brush
- Photo Prints
- Blank 8×10 Canvas
- Craft Paint
- Sandpaper
Directions:
- Start by cutting the photo to the same size as your canvas.
- Paint a layer of Mod Podge over the top of canvas and lay the photo on top, carefully smoothing out any wrinkles or bubbles. Let dry.
- Paint two or three layers of Mod Podge over the top, making sure to let each layer dry in between.
- After completely dry, use a small piece of sand paper to gently smooth edges, if needed.
- Use craft paint around the sides of canvas. I use a small paint brush and add some brush marks to the sides for a more rustic look. (If your prefer, feel free to paint sides first then add photo and Mod Podge for a cleaner look.)
- Let dry and enjoy your photo canvas! That’s it… super easy!
I’ve made so many of these over the years and they still look great with no fading! My parents and in laws love getting photos of the grand-kids that they can proudly display! 😊

I use a blank canvas and press it on the wet mod podge to give the picture a textured look.

Oooh, I love this idea but first I’ll create an artistic effect of my photos in PicsArt app like oil painting option, then develop the pic. And ill try to use brushstrokes retracing the image. I bet that will make it look so real. Thanks for the idea!

I have done this and can’t seem to rid the finished product of brush marks. How can I not have brush stroke marks?
Try using a stiff-ish foam roller (very fine kind of hard foam) over the mod podge.
Hello! Great idea. Can you use a picture printed on photo paper from an ink jet printer? Will I have to use a sealer first before putting on the mod podge?

Hi you can use photo paper. I used the Mod Podge to glue the photo to the canvas.
I need help🤦🏽♀️ 1) should the picture be put on face side up? 2) is any water involved in doing this project? I try the canvas project where you add water and peel off the paper and it’s a disaster…. at this point I want to make a photo the simplest way
