Happy Friday: Homemade Holiday Decor
Sent from reader, Jennifer:
I know Pinterest is full of these pallet characters than can be flipped but I really loved the idea of decor that I could leave out for more than one holiday so I made these for my weekend project. I did have to buy a few extra bottles of paint. I used a Jo-Ann’s coupon and these were colors I would use again for other projects anyway so no big expense here. I may add a little hay/flowers to the scarecrow hat and possibly a scarf to the snowman in the future. My husband deconstructed, cut, and sanded the pallet for me. Overall, I think they turned out pretty well especially their friendly smiles.
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Great job!
Jennifer, your pallet looks great! I’ve been thinking about doing a similar craft, because I like that’s it’s for multiple holidays.
Adorable❣️
This is so cute! Thanks for the idea:)
Awe. So Cute. What a great hubby! Sounds like he did all the hard work just so you could have some fun lol. Where did you get the crates from? I always see cute projects made using them but never know where I can get them either cheap or free.
I say just check grocery stores and drug stores. I work at walgreens and sometimes we just leave them outside next to the compactor. Depends on if we can get the drivers to take them back with them.
It’s actually illegal to take pallets without permission. Please talk to the store or wherever you’d like to take them from for permission. Though sometimes the store wouldn’t be able to say yes, either, if they’re owned by the shipper of whatever product was held on them.
Also, be very careful using old pallets for these types of projects. Make certain you wear gloves. The last thing you want is a nasty staph infection from a seemingly innocuous splinter from one of these!
Great job! I’ve been wanting one of those. They are too cute and you get two uses.
Wow, wish my hubby would do all the hard work for me, guess you scored!
So fun!
Good thinking and super cute!
This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
I did this a few weeks ago with friends. So much fun. It won’t let me share the pic of the outcome.
I see pallets for free listed on Craigslist all the time. Stores in my area list them when they put them out by trash or have collected a few for people to come get.
I absolutely love these! This is something I could actually do. Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow, I am late seeing that this was posted! Thanks so much for all the great comments. As for finding pallets, I tend to just find a random pallet occasionally but if you let your friends know that you are looking for a pallet they somehow just seem to turn up. I really loved this project and hope some of you will try it too. Thanks again!
