    Its so painful!!!

Is it more painful than waxing (if you’ve ever waxed)?

      • Melanie

In my opinion, yes. More painful than waxing

Depends where you epilate /wax. I epilate my legs and underarms. I wax my face and bikini. They both hurt but I’ve epilated longer than I have waxed so those areas are used to the pain although it still stings a little. My epilator (cheap $30 one) is still working but the cord is giving me problems. Still debating this deal.

more painful than waxing Meka.. The epilator did not work in my case.

pain is totally subjective…but the important difference between the two methods is that waxing pulls patches of hair out all at once, while the epilator only pulls a few hairs out at once (and a bit more slowly, too). So epilating can feel more painful to some people for that reason. But your body definitely gets used to it, and eventually it doesn’t hurt as much- I’ve done both for many years and actually prefer epilation because it does not cause trauma to the skin like waxing (which will lead to wrinkles, due to all of that pulling!).

but with both methods, eventually you destroy the hair follicle from repeatedly pulling the hair out and that results in slower, finer hair growth over time (and can even result in permanent reduction of hair in some areas). much better than shaving for those reasons!

Oh it’s painful alright. You end up getting more used to it but that just makes it tolerable. Do it after a bath or shower. That helps.

Agreed! It is the only thing I use for all body unwanted hair. I can’t feel the pain anymore, I guess my nerves went numb or something…. It is more convenient in my opinion and works.

Ok, I decided to go for it. The wet/dry combo along with the attachments and bonus light feature really stood out to me. Thank you so much for posting this deal. It came at a perfect time!

Can it be priced matched at Target.com?

I’ve had a braun epilator for about 8 years and here are my thoughts. It is going to be painful the first few times you do it for sure. You have more hair to pull at first & you will feel like it’s torture & wonder why the heck anyone would use it. (I’m serious!). My legs were painful but I got through it ok the first time I tried. It took me a couple of years before I could actually get through doing under my arms bc it hurt so bad I just couldn’t finish it & I have never been able to get through my bikini without stopping. I use it on my upper lip as needed & wish I could find a precision version to use on my brows. Once you’ve gotten a whole area done it’s not bad. Since hair grows at different rates you won’t have as many hairs to pull during subsequent sessions and you do get used to it over time. Now it’s not a big deal at all for me to do my legs or under my arms. I have dark, course hair & had to shave daily with a razor but I can epilate once week during the summer & be fine. My hair comes in much more soft & sparsely which has been great. I wish I would’ve started using it many years before I did. If I have a special occasion & really want silky smooth legs I would still shave with a traditional razor after epilating but for 99% of my days this is perfect. I’m still using the same braun epilator I got 8 years ago so I think it’s a great brand to go with. I got mine at bed bath & beyond with a 20% off coupon & I still cringed at how much it cost but it has more than earned it’s keep!

Oh and mine is a wet/dry with the light too. The light is super helpful in seeing the hairs & although I always use mine dry I like that I can give it a good wash without worry.

Thanks for such a great review CJ!
