My son is 7 and got this game last year at 6. Most of the card (disk/cartridge/whatever) games are pretty tricky for him on the ds even now. 4 year old brother does like trying to think he’s playing the game as it has fighting but has yet to ever complete a level. So, depending on how frustrated he might be at 5 it would still be a great option in the near future at least.
