My parents have some land and last year my son asked for this for his birthday and asked to spend his birthday day with papaw just hunting on their land. When the other 3 grandsons saw it they asked to get one for their birthdays too. The kids have had so much fun with them.
This is not some super machine but it does work and they find all sorts of stuff.

Oh. We have the junior one.

I started to buy this for my 6 year old but then saw quite a few negative reviews on Amazon. Does anyone know if it works like it’s supposed to? Would love to hear opinions!

Depends on the child. If they are easily frustrated and not patient, then this isn’t for them. My son (7yr) and I both use a White’s, but it is a hobby we do often together. He had this type at a younger age and would get frustrated because it is difficult to pinpoint and cannot sort bottle caps and nails. It is a good detector at that price to learn sweeping technique, grids, and to see if they have the patience and genuine interest. If it is a gift, don’t forget a gardening spade so they can dig easily.

My son got this for Christmas the year before last and has loved it. It works great IMO. He has found some really interesting things!

That’s awesome to hear Dana! Thanks so much for the feedback!
