On philly Voice dot com this week there’s a story of a woman who bought a hundred of these for the purpose is reselling them for profit.

    IMHO she is monster.

    • Breanna

She also got stuck with $23,000 worth of them because she couldn’t sell them at the mark up she wanted! She was selling some of them for $189 on eBay!!

      • Tien

        LOL

    • Katie

The saddest part about resellers is that they will just return what they didn’t sell for huge profits after Christmas and in the meantime many innocent children got shorted a gift they really wanted.

    • Momof2

      Totally agree jc7676

    • hellfire gainz

Monster is a strong word to call another person. People who buy to resell are no different than any of the corporate world. What another one does is none of our business. But we can be nicer, that is in our control.

      • Dolly

Well us business owners do a typical markup and with that mark up it pays for rent on our business property, all the utilities, Insurance, pay for employees and prepay hoping to make and profit. We by no means buy stuff at $40 and mark it up like she has done. I think what she did is a BIT extreme

    • Laura

It’s disgusting to do that. And so selfish. Having a big family I have a budget to stick to for each kid and inflated prices mean less presents. Making a buck at the expense of people not being able to afford things is wrong.

  2. Lindak

    No, thank goodness.

  3. kristy

My store shows inventory, but when I went there they said Sunday. They’re holding them like toys r us did….

  4. Sharyn

Off topic, but does anyone know if the Nintendo NES Classic will be back into Toys R Us before Christmas? It’s not available online right now and my local Los Angeles store had a shipment on Sunday, sold out quickly and said they’re not sure if they’ll get more before Xmas.

    • Chris

No idea on NES. Sounds like it is only available on eBay at an outrageous price. Someone said they ordered one from a retailer back in November and on backorder.

    • Katie

Like hatchimals they are going to be extremely hard to come across until after the new year . I am in Maryland but stores here have only been getting a few at a time. After weeks of searching I found a GameStop with a call list for them. I’m basically going to try waiting it out for that call. Good luck in your search !

      • Jenn

Hi Katie, I’m in Delaware and was able to buy two from Kaplan Toys but only need one. Just looking for a good home & what I paid $71.99.

        • Erin

I am interested if she passes! I’ve called my game stop daily since they were released with no luck. This is all my boys asked for for Christmas

        • Erin T.

Please email me at erintucker81@hotmail.com. I’d love to purchase your extra NES if she passes. I’ll pay via paypal invoice. (My PayPal email is different, so please email me here to set it up. My boys only want this for Christmas and I’ve been calling my gamestop daily since release with no luck!

          • Jenn

Okay, let me give Katie a chance to respond – I will be in touch. 😀

          • Jenn

So Sorry I have an extra Hatchimal – I responded to the wrong person by accident, but my husband has an emulator and he downloaded all the old Nintendo games for free a couple of years ago. I can ask him how he did that.

            • Jess

Hi Jenn! If it is an extra hatchimal you have and want to sell, please let me know!! I am in Rhode Island! My email is jkingston8808@gmail.com
              Thank you!!!

            • Jenn

The emulator stuff is tricky & complicated – you technically have to own a copy of the game, which we have all the original systems & games.

            • Melissa Freni

I would love to buy the extra hatchimal if all others fall through melissafreni@hotmail.com

          • Kim

Erin, See my post about truck stops. My husband spotted several in a variety of them as we drove from Michigan to Florida and back over the Thanksgiving holiday. I’m not certain why they had them on hand and everyone else has a waiting list!

        • desiree cresta

          Jenn, that’s so nice!

        • Cristen

What an amazing offer! How kind of you. ❤️

        • Lydia

Hello, I know you probably already sold yours, but just in case you didn’t. I would sincerely appreciate it if you would please contact me, I can pay through PayPal and it would mean the world to me. Thank you in advance and I hope you have a great holiday. My email is holdingoutforsuperman@gmail.com it’s the same for PayPal if you’d like to contact me through that.

        • Katie

Hi Jenn ! If still available I would love a chance to work something out with you on the hatchimal !! You can email me at ktmcknight09 at aol dot com

            • Lynn

I called all the Walmarts in Chicago. No luck. 🙁

        • Amy Elise

If you still need a buyer I would love it but the ds! Amycncg@gmail.com

      • LynnNV

I’m thinking GameStop MIGHT have NES consoles in-stock on 12/12. I was looking for a 2nd controller a couple weeks ago and came across a pre-order opportunity for the controller. The item description stated that the controller would be avail on 12/12. So, I’m anticipating that the consoles will also be offered too. I could be wrong but I’d keep GameStop in mind this coming weekend.

        • Sharyn

          Thanks for the heads up!

    • Kim

People are reporting finding them at truck stops! We recently drove to Florida and my husband spotted them at all of the truck stops we took breaks at. Go figure! So, if there’s a Flying J or something similar in your area, you might want to give them a call and see if they are carrying the Nintendo NES System.

      • Sharyn

Wow, never would of thought of looking there. Thanks!

  5. Amanda

I believe you can use the $10 off $50/$25 off $100 coupon as well! Also I read there is a limit of 2 per person

  6. Summer

I just saw some lady post these for $150 on a Facebook garage sale page.

    • Juli

If you really want to see ridiculous, check Craigslist or eBay. We came across one, completely by accident. It was hidden in Toys R Us.

    • Sonja

Crazy! I’m sure target will have a line full of resellers really early

    • Jennie

On our county garage sale they have one posted for 150!

      • Summer

I just saw another garage sale page, where the seller did a bidding war for these. It got up to $148!

  7. Cathy

Extremely happy this is not on any of my lists. Lol.

    • ViMou

      I’m with you Cathy!

  8. C

I was clueless about these until the other day. So happy my kid still is!!!

  9. Ktenny

My kids kind of wanted one but want other things more thankfully!!! Good luck to those who need them!

  10. Megs

I didn’t think they could hold them! Really?

  11. Hollie

Glad I got one already! No waiting in line or fighting for one! I got mine at BJ’s! 😊

  12. AP

Ugh! Both of my girls want these but it’s so hard to justify the price. I’m worried it will end up sitting untouched, like their zoomer kitty’s. At least I have some time to sleep on it.

    • kathy

If you go to Slickdeals, sign up and then set up deal alert which is at the top of the page you will get alerted when say Diapers.com has them. That is how I got one Thanksgiving eve.

    • Mandysfestival

We straight up told my 5yo that they are rare and everyone wants one so after everyone is done shopping for Christmas we’ll find one. She took it better than I thought lol

  13. ana

What’s so special about these things anyways that people are reselling for a high price?

    • Robin

Just supply/demand, it’s the hot gift this year. Some are willing to pay the $150-$200 just to find it for their child, others are swooping them up as they come in stock either for the same reason, or to purposely resell for a profit.

  14. Winter

I’m hoping these will be more available in the new year. My daughter has a mid January birthday and would love one. Told her it is not going to happen for Christmas.

  15. 🌺Nolee🌺

I watched a video the other day that was posted by a news channel. It took several adults over an hour to get the silly thing to hatch. It was painful to watch. Children don’t have that much patience. I’ll be saving my money.

    • Amy

Lol. I’m so glad my daughter doesn’t know about these things.

    • Shellyy

Lol I seen the exact one yesterday on a live feed. Ughh i want 20 min of my life back lol

    • dorfmunder

I saw the Parents FB page unhatching, they weren’t following the directions! Most people get them in 15-30 minutes from what I’ve seen.

  16. Karen

I am holding out until Easter for one of these. I think it would be cute to put in the baskets and by then the fad might have died out a little!

  17. theresa Northcutt

I am supposed to get one tomm if i do i don’t need one . Im in illinois and if someone needs one let me know will only charge what the store charged me . have a friend at a store

    • Ileana

      I do!

    • Megs

I do- I’ve been running around like a chicken for two months

    • Jess

If you do get one and looking to sell, email me with details please!! jkingston8808@gmail.com
      Thank you!!!

    • Eloi

Hi, Im from chicago and the hatchimals is number one on my 6 year old daughter list. I’m interested pls.

    • Amber

Me please! I need to find 2

      Designmylocket at yahoo.com

  18. Debbie

What the heck is a hatchimal? Glad my kids don’t know either. $60 is a lot.

  19. Liz C.

My sister in law in arkansas said she saw plenty available at walmart .. same price.

  20. Momof2

It would of helped your “holiday” spending money buy not buying this at all. BAM save that amount you waisted on them. You didn’t mark them up on ebay? Yeah right!! You just bought them to sell them at the same price u got at the store right. Hmm sounds legit 😂😂

  21. april

I saw on letgo.com one for 400 and a nes for 400. She also put dont send me mean messages. For real ???!!!

  22. trace

I’m sorry….what?! Oh, like you had NO idea when you put those on ebay that they were going to bid up so high…you know it’s wrong and cruel to take advantage of the parents. Just admit it at least. We all can list exclusive or not sold in store anymore type of toys online for crazy prices or for bidding wars but that doesn’t necessarily make it right because you wanted the Christmas money.
I think it’s ridiculous the parents think they have to buy these things or their kids won’t have a good Christmas. And I feel really, really sad for the kids who are getting all caught up in this…getting one or not…this is not what Christmas is all about!

  23. Julie Addison

1 really need 2 hatchimals, but my granddaughters will hopefully forget with everything else they have gotten unless i just get lucky and so far no go, i would have paid a few extra bucks but not 2 or 3 times more!! Wish me luck i have a few hours off tomorrow so I’m gonna try again to find them.

  24. Heather

I was told by my local ToysRUs that the Nintendo will be getting discontinued bc Nintendo is upset for what ppl are selling them for and then will come out with a new one
Not sure how true the story is but u could always call and find out

    • Amanda

Definitely not true! They are so happy with the sales and buzz they are soon coming out with a SNES Classic Edition, to complement the NES Classic Edition

  25. annaf

My 7 year old mentioned wanting a hatchimals a few weeks ago. I just said that would be an awesome birthday present and she went for it😊 i have until march to find one! Good luck to all!

  26. Jim

Thankfully my LO has absolutely no clue what that is.

  27. Jodi

The sign on the door at my Target says limit of 1 hatchimal. Glad my daughters don’t want any of them.

  28. Maggie

It is so sad people are selling them so expensive….I was able to grab one at Sears/Kmart online when they first came out and used $25 in surprise points so ended up paying half of the price and THANK GOD. I gave it to yer (she is 9) when she got the first marking period grades back in November and i’ve seen her playing with it just the 1st 2 days……it was sadly a waste of money lol I should of known better, a few years ago same thing happened with the furby..In other words, I don’t think the hatchimal is not worth the MSRP of $49.99….

  29. Wendy

I have a friend who works the stock room at the Twin Falls Target. They will be getting them but they will have strict instructions not to break down the pallet until Monday was what she told me.

  30. chantelrebecca1

I am a seller on ebay, and I just want everyone to please keep in mind that the people reselling these aren’t necessarily greedy or mean. They are mostly people who sell for income to pay their bills or for the money to get their own children gifts this Christmas. Please understand that margins are typically very thin on most toy products. I buy at wholesale, and as a small reseller I typically make less than $5 an item off of toys priced at $25 or more. If you aren’t Amazon or Target then it is impossible to get decent prices even at wholesale. I am able to buy wholesale from Jakks Pacific for example, but their wholesale price for little guys is frequently MORE than what that same item will sell for at retail on Amazon. So You either have to find toys that you can’t find on major sites or you have to buy at retail and sell at a markup to get started in an online business. As much as Hip2savers LOVE Amazon, please know that they frequently sell at a loss because they want to crush out all competition, and that isn’t just Walmart and Target, it is also the small businesses of America.

Also, if they are selling these on ebay at $120, they are at most making $23 after 15% ebay and paypal fees, $15 minimum shipping costs and roughly $5 sales tax. So they are making less than 20% of the total sale amount. I just paid $50 for a lego advent calendar from a reseller, and as much as I like to save, I appreciated that they were selling them so that I could get one for my son. I had already driven to several Targets that showed them in stock when they weren’t and Toys R Us. The reseller made a little profit, sold me an item I really wanted and saved me the hassle of running all around town on a fruitless mission to find only disappointment and lost time that I don’t have to waste.

    • hellfire gainz

I am not a seller, but I am on your side. I totally get why people do it. Stay strong with all the negative feedback. Keep looking out for yours. Merry Christmas.

      • Emily

        Thanks for your positive post!

    • Sarah

Yup hard to make a living trying to do this. The fees and shipping eat you up. Not just toys but lots of things in general. The amount it sells for is not the take home pay

    • c

I too am a seller, and i respect a person’s hustle. No one is obligated to buy anything. More power to whoever can get in line for hours.

    • Ami

I will probably hear it for posting this but here goes. I am not a typical reseller but I had a Dooney Disney purse that sat in my closet for years, still with tags. It was ordered over the phone and too big when it arrived. Also had some perfume I got as a gift I knew I didn’t like and never exchanged. Listed both on eBay. A woman bid a ridiculous amount on the perfume then didn’t want it, canceled, so I was stuck again. Complained about shipping cost which was listed. The purse.. omg. Sold for a decent price but after fees and crazy shipping, about $90 of the profit gone. Since I don’t sell often, PayPal held my money forever… so I will, instead of complaining about resellers, I just choose to wait it out. If we get an NES, we get one.. I would pay $100 on OfferUp.. that’s it. Next year will be another year. If you feel strongly about not buying for resellers, don’t. There is always a market for resale. It’s all about supply and demand. Everyone knows what they can afford.

  31. hellfire gainz

Production companies are to blame, not people buying to profit. In a few weeks stores won’t be able to get rid of them fast enough. That says alot. We need to remember not to judge what another does.

  32. Angie

    Can order them online?

  33. Sam

Since you have kids how would you feel if you were in the same boat looking for a toy for your child. There are other ways to make money including a job. Luckily, I have gotten 3 of them and sold them to my friends who were looking. Only at what I payed for them, because I knew what a magical Christmas it would be for the kids knowing these are really what they wanted. I don’t think that I could do this to children knowing how hard they are to find.

    • Allison

Being a reseller is a job and it is a lot of work and sometimes for only a little bit of profit. Once the item is acquired it still has to be labelled and shipped to Amazon if using FBA. The reseller also has to pay for the shipping to Amazon.

    • Kathryn

I understand why people are upset about reselling, but it is a job. No need for negativity. It’s unfortunate when we are the ones that want something that’s in demand, but it’s supply and demand. Every store does it too. I’m pretty sure we can all make our kids Christmases special with or without a Hatchimal. I do hope you all find one.

    • s

Sam the spirit of Christmas is family and love not a silly toy. Reselling is job, thats what companies do as well. No need to be upset because you couldn’t get your kid a toy. A parents love is not measured by materialistic things you buy them.

  34. Mica

My 5 year old has not asked for one, but we live on a farm and seeing something hatch is nothing new. She also know the rule that if your animal lays an egg and it winds up hatching it is yours to take care of, so she is probably afraid of the extra responsibility 🙂

    • Amber

Mica, that’s the funniest comment on here!!

    • hellfire gainz

We hatch our own ducks and chickens. The “original” hatchimal. Lol

  35. Heidi

Will we have to make a made dash to search for them in the toy isle or will they be close to the enterance at Targets on Sunday?

    • Jenn

I would guess there might be a line that forms before the store opens 1-2 hours before and they will give out numbers for how many they have. That usually keeps everyone calm and orderly these days. So go early, bundle up & take a chair.

      • Tiggy

My DD works at Target. The lines start at 4 am, and earlier! It’s crazy!

    • Kait

My target store has had them at the Customer Service. I am not sure if they are all the same.

  36. Huff

I bought these hatchimals for $110 per piece (2 of them) plus $10 shipping from eBay. Looking to sell it for $120 because my niece changed her mind….now wants a American Girl doll…sigh….If anyone wants to buy it, please contact me: will accept PayPal, no gift cards please. Thank you! Huffmanaiden@yahoo.com

    • Maria

Got excited because I thought you were talking about the new nintendo. Lol. Got my Hatchimals. NES is the last gift I need for my kids lists….and the hardest to find. 🙁

      • Jackie

Ewww pass. Rather try and get them for half the price you are selling them for from Target.

    • Maria

      .

  37. Mat

    Thanks for the heads up

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Mat!

  38. Becky A.

If I can get my hands on one (or two) at Target, I will be finding an Angel tree child who wants one. My kids are too young for them, but it would make my holiday to get “the toy” for a kid who wants one but who probably only gets what he/she needs the rest of the year. Here’s to hoping my husband supports me in my freezing in line Sunday morning 🙂

    • Haseena

Good luck to you, I really hope you find one. So incredibly nice of you.

  39. Sharon

I’m hearing after everybody goes to these extreme lengths to get these, as soon as they hatch that the kids don’t want to even play with them anymore!

  40. Kristin

I don’t get why people purchasing hatchimals & nintendos get backlash for selling them on Ebay. I’m pretty sure that most people who had the chance to would. People complain about them being hard to find which they are, but it is still possible. You just have to put a little more effort into it and get up really early for the most part and be prepared to stand outside for hours. These people who are selling them on Ebay are more than likely doing this. So everyone who is complaing about the prices on Ebay need to realize that these resellers are more than likely putting in more of an effort and they shouldn’t get backlash for selling them for a profit.

    • Janisha Meranda

What are you looking to trade for?

  41. HC

I can understand the frenzy of wanting to get your kid the hottest toy of the year. But these don’t even look all that great. I could see these going untouched at the bottom of the toy bin in less than 2 months.

    • Susie

      Amen

  42. Ashley

What is a hatchimal?? Glad I don’t need one!

  43. Luna

No clue what this is, came here to see why there are 99 comments!!!

  44. Susie

Everyone has a choice. You don’t like a price of something, you don’t buy it. You really want it, and are willing to pay extra for it, you buy it. Don’t blame resellers for lack of supply and high demand. Who is really to blame for the “hot item” label this toy has received, and the lack of supply? Hmmmmm….

  45. Jennifer

I got Hatchimal from eBay and then I changed my mind. I want to sell it for price I paid which is $139 including shipping. Email me at jlutgens@live.com. Thanks

  46. Kathryn

I hope everyone looking finds their hatchimals. Just remember your holiday spirit. This negativity is disappointing. I’ve actually enjoyed shopping these season-people are so friendly (as seen by many of you). Don’t forget what it’s all about!! No doubt finding the NES would make me super happy, but I won’t let it make or break my holiday!

  47. Emily

I work at Target, honestly, we had no idea how popular Hatchimals would be. As the person who occasionally operates the phones it breaks my heart to tell people we won’t have them in till the next week, then scalpers or lucky people, line up up to 39 mins early before store opens, get a ticket, 8 people later our Hatchimals and NES classics r out. Each call I get after 8:09 is so sad, because we only got 8, they r gone. My day is good but sad because I crush people’s hopes.

    • a

You shouldn’t be too upset its just a toy. A fad that will go away after Christmas.

  48. Marie

It’s all hype, Making the item scarce drives the frenzy. People, including kids, talk about the item being rare and then they all want one. Why? Because being rare makes it “special.” Use your common sense. Buy your child something that they will enjoy all year, not just for a day or two.

  49. vanessa

I have Sephora $15 off $50 if anyone wants to trade. Looking for Kohls, Target, Amazon, Walmart, Bath and body works. Girlofgrace86@gmail.com. Thank you!
