How does this compare with Indian basmati rice?

    • RZ

I’m Pakistani and all we eat is basmati rice…this is NOTHING like it. It’s supposed to be a hybrid b/w basmati and white rice- but the grains are shorter, the texture and color is different, and it doesn’t have the same flavor or fragrance as basmati. Basmati rice is known for each grain being pure white, long, separate, and fragrant…this is not even close. Save your $ and buy a good bag of the real stuff if you want to make Indian food.

    • Kristen

I bought some to use it in place of basmati! We like Indian food and we make it all of the time with this rice. I think it works great and we have served it to family and friends who also like Indian food and none of them have noticed that it was not basmati.

Nice! I just ordered this about 10 min ago for $10.98. Reg price $7/jar at Kroger. Perfect for chipotle-knockoff lime rice 🙂

    • amy

That’s what I use it for too! 🙂

  11. Cassandane

Try again! The coupon was gone, but just popped up

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Bummer! I am still not finding it as I click through 🙁

I’m no longer seeing the coupon for the regular Texmati variety, but there are still $10 off coupons for the Jasmati, organic brown Texmati, and the variety 4 pack — I was able to 3 different varieties and use a $10 off coupon for each!
