These thermometers are not very accurate at all, in a scary way! I actually went to the ER last night when this exact thermometer told me I had a fever of 104.5. At the hospital, they told me that my temp was 99! I still got treatment (mastitis, yay), but… yeah, probably going to go back to the good old digital oral thermometer.

I’ve never had luck with the temporal ones and have done armpit temps in my kids (and have also tested when they aren’t sick) and am good at that, but I wanted to buy the Braun ear thermometer my ped uses since my favorite regular thermometer died. It had the perfect balance of being relatively quick but accurate. These oral ones that claim 3-5 seconds are terrible. I’m hoping I can get consistent ear readings like I do ancillary.
I have Braun the ear ones! Very accurate and fast reading. My son had fever and it read 105F. In ER, they had similar reading and even the rectal ones had similar reading. Very pleased and must have!
