DIY Stovetop Room Scents
Does your home ever have that not so fresh, yesterday’s dinner mixed with hubby’s or teen gym socks smell? 😉
Here’s how to make your own natural simmering scents on the stovetop that will make your home smell super clean and wonderful! Some of these herbs and extracts you may already even have at home.
The idea is to bring to a boil 2-3 cups of water along with fresh fruit, fresh herbs, and extracts. Then simmer on low and your home will start to smell amazing. You can also do these in a slow cooker.
1.) Williams-Sonoma Scent
This popular DIY Williams-Sonoma Scent smells just like that glorious store! I happen to have a rosemary plant in my backyard, so I’ll be making this one a lot.
2.) Citrus Mint Scent
This citrus mint smells really clean and fresh. If you like anything mint smelling like me, you’ll love it.
3.) Christmas Scent
My favorite by far though is the holiday scent… and who says your house can’t smell like Christmas year-round!? 😃 The clove and cinnamon smell so great together!
Have fun and create scents using things that naturally grow around where you are. I’ve kept these for a couple of days at a time in a pot on the stove and turned it on when I’m home.
Sounds like I’m not the only fan of these homemade room scents! Check out what some Hip2Save readers have said of this idea in the past:
“I have always done this in my home. They smell wonderful. When my children were little they would come home front school and ask, “is it for smelling or eating?”. Makes the whole house smell lovely!!!”
“My sister was broke last year and made this for me for Christmas. She dehydrated slices of oranges and apples in the oven to use in the mixture. It turned out wonderful and pretty! Also, you can get whole cinnamon sticks at the dollar store, along with whole allspice… which smells great, too.”
“Instead of using orange slices, I save the rinds from our oranges/cuties and throw those in a pot with cinnamon and vanilla.”

Cant wait to get back and try these
As Christmas gifts last year I made up little bags of dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks and whole cloves.
I tied a little note on it saying to put it in a couple cups and water and let simmer 😃
Such a fun gift!
We get these and I have to say it’s a really thoughtful gift.
A friend gave these as party favors at her Christmas party. Gave recipe and instructed us to add water.
How fun! Great idea
I make these for my non drinking friends for the holidays and put them in cute mason jars. I make candy cane infused vodka for my friends that drink.
Great idea! Love the vodka idea too!

Just made the Christmas scent as neighbor gifts.
