Prismacolor pencils are amazing! If I had the money, I’d buy another set RIGHT NOW! I love mine!!!

Thanks for the awesome review! Good to know!

Wow! That seems like too much for colored pencils! What makes them so much $$? Thank you!

    • Kell

Professional grade, not necessarily something you’d give your 5 year old. They really are some of the highest rated out there, If you are looking for pro. Grade.

If I could afford $87 for colored pencils I wouldn’t need to follow Hip to Save.

Honestly, Why even bother to comment?

These are for artists. I had a set of these, and this is a STEAL for an art student. I used to spend a fortune and work all summer to buy my needed supplies for art school. Everyone needs different things and I am grateful that she posts lots of different items. 🙂

Lmao!…dont pay mind to the negative

They are great soft lead pencils. I have a smaller set that I have had for 20 years. This is a great price for an artist…..and for someone coloring in an “adult” coloring book (as a stress reliever), this box is cheaper than therapy! 😀

I used these for presentations and sketching during architecture school. GREAT pencils and this is an awesome price!

For those commenting about the price – you’re right they are pricey! They also aren’t crayola. Prismacolor is one of the excellent brands of colored pencils for doing amazing colored pencil work. Think wonderful blending and incredible color choices. These colored pencils are oil based, which is why they are called soft core. This is a step up from Prismacolor scholar, which are wax based like a crayola. The difference is in the blending. Oil blends effortlessly and smoothly. Wax based pencils cause a wax bloom and can layer up on the paper making it harder to blend. As a high school art teacher, I use these for my students and it is a world of difference. I wouldn’t reccomend these for anyone not serious about their art skills. I really wouldn’t even reccomend them for adult coloring books, based on the ones I have seen. Unless of course you LOVE your colorinf books.

Jet has the 132 pack for $59. I bought my last two sets at an auction with a bunch of other art supplies. I got the 132 set for about $20. I love it!

Would someone recommend these for someone who is simply using this for adult coloring books? I am currently using crayola color pencils and understand that this probably is better. But for someone who doesn’t do art or sketching, would it be worth it? Do you have to sharpen these less, etc?

    • Angela

Oops I just read Stephanie’s comment above!

Wow great price I just wish I could afford them. These are amazing and they last for ever. I agree with the other posts these ARE NOT FOR CHILDREN these are more for adults and maybe some teens who are interested in drawing. My 13 year old son just started a drawing class at school and his teacher recommended these pencils. I think we might start with a smaller set of maybe 10 and if he still wants to stick with drawing then we will try to save some money for that. The thing is that by then I bet this deal will be gone ☚ī¸
