Hi Collin! I went to a 99¢ store today and I just had to share! I was surprised to find such a huge variety of items during a spontaneous visit…

My co-worker who was with me had to grab a cart… LOL! I spent about $27 (the candles and one of the deli meats were ONLY $1.99). I get carried away when I see name brands here!

Have you had luck finding great deals 99¢ stores?

(Thanks, Richy!)

I always find a variety of name brand items here. I love to think of it as a little treasure hunt! Can not go wrong with the price! Some items might be close to the expiration date so be smart when choosing items if you are going to use it in time. Great deals!

Thanks for the tip Vanessa! Good to know!

    I wish I had 99¢ store 🙁

I go once a week. I find organic and gluten free stuff all the time.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome to hear that! Thanks for sharing!

We used to have a similar store where I live, that was located inside a mall. I loved to go in there and shop the deals. I could almost always find name brand cereals and lunch snacks such as Fiber One and granular bar for only a dollar, sometimes less! Yes , they were usually close to expiration but we go through that kind of stuff so fast at our house it never mattered! I sure do miss that store!

Went today and found 2 different type of lego dimension packs each for .99. Can’t beat that 😉

    • Erica (Silly Sidekick)

      Wow! So awesome!

    • Andrea

These are $4.99 at my “99 cents only” store

My favorite thing is fresh produce including bananas at $0.39 per lb. Last time also found Hostess Donettes for .99 as well as Orowheat sandwich rounds for the same price.

I’m addicted to the $.99 store! Whenever I leave there I feel like I robbed the place. I love to pay 30 bucks and come home with four or five bags of groceries, especially awesome namebrand snacks. My kids are in heaven but they honestly ask for “whales” from the $.99 store instead of the named brand “Goldfish.” Well trained kids!

Make sure you get the right store; it’s the – 99 cents ONLY – store. They often have great produce, too.

  9. Dara

    I scored something great yesterday – a 5 oz. container of Polly-O
    shaved parmesan cheese!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great find Dara!

  10. thanks!

Is it true that this store is only in AZ, CA, NV, and TX??? Not fair. Lol.

  11. Andrea

I’m afraid of the perishable refrigerated items at the 99 cents only store like deli meat, cheese, milk 😳. I have a vision in my head of these things sitting on grocery store shelves until they’re almost to their sell by dates then placed in regular non-refrigerated trucks to be transported to the 99 cents only store. I’m sure this isn’t really how it works…am I the only one a little nervous about it though?

    • Lee

Andrea so glad I am not the only one. I can’t bring myself to buy cold foods at that store. I am sure it is safe, but my mind doesn’t agree.

    • Bonn

      I feel the same way!

    • Michelle

Andrea and Lea, I ALWAYS buy items from the refrigerated section and NEVER EVER had any issue.

In San Diego we have the mother of all .99 cent stores! I can’t believe the deals. I love that store!

Andrea, i have a very close family member that works there and I can assure you that everything in the deli and produce department comes in the boxes from the manufacturers , what they do is buy huge quantities of these big brand name items at crazy low prices that the stores won’t buy because of the close expiration dates , while I can’t say all the stores are the same they are all checked by the health departments and I trust their deli/produce as much as any other store 🙂 I score so much organic produce. There that cost 3x the amount at my favorite store sprouts 🙂 happy hunting !

    • Dara

Thank you so much for this “insider” info! I myself haven’t worried about it, but obviously others have. I am a hard-core 99 Cents Only shopper, and have, luckily, never had a bad experience!

  14. Dsanz

Oh yeah I forgot , their milk , produce , and eggs get delivered every other day 🙂 hope your store is a good one as the few that I have around here 🙂 but yes , i could totally see how it would make some nervous 🙂

I popped in earlier today for a quick 15min trip. These are the items I got, be on the look out for- Nature valley nut and seed bars, triscuits, Annie’s organic frosted oat flakes, pit bull protein bars, Angie’s popcorn, raspberry, and blueberries 6oz, 50c red peppers. Good food made simple oatmeal with berries. Culinary circle red raspberry jelly. And boulder canyon rice and bean chips! Mostly snacky foods today. Oh and snack wells biscuit thins.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! Thanks for sharing the goodies you found!

I shop our .99 Only twice a week. You do have to pay attention to use by dates and they carry items that cost more such as toys, milk, eggs. Name brand cereals, yogurt, sour cream, whipped cream, frozen dinners, I get often. I have never left empty handed! They have had full size Digiorno Pizza in the past for $1.99 and last year I bought pillow pets for $1.99 also.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the great feedback!

  17. BERNARDO

I love 99 cent store not to mention is right next to cvs lol …at the beginning I was a little nervous To be quite honest when it come to deli products but so far I trust them never had an issue with any deli items.there’s no much name brand products I have to ask my self do you really need that? The answer is always yes hahaha

  18. Lisa

This is really a great store. I have found so many great items. Not too long ago I had bought 5 picture wall plagues for $1.99 a piece. Originally priced $19.99. I have also bought Kohl’s place mats. Goody brushes and accessories for 99 cents.

  19. Jean

We get almost all of our produce from here now…
and whenever I see the yoplait yogurt 8 packs (or one time it was a 16 pack) I buy it!!! For a dollar…yes please!
My kids think its such a treat!

  20. Tom Collins

Does the 99 cents only store accept coupons?

  21. LORI

Hi all, we have great 99cent stores here in Apple Valley, Ca. They keep stores clean and rotate stock. We have a large elderly population and they utilize this resource diligently. I’ve kept track of my couponing and discount purchases for years now and can tell you that this has really helped my oop percentage grow.

  22. Harvest

I’m away from home working and found the 99 cent store just this week!! I got lots of fresh produce including blueberries and blackberries! They even had freeze dried fruit!! Great store!!
