We recently went to see the pediatrician for my son’s extreme dry skin in the winter. Turns out it’s actually eczema and the Dr recommended Auqaphor over anything else. Since we have been using it after baths his skin is completely back to normal! It does work wonders. We were using Vaseline (which does help as well), but it’s so messy. Aquaphor is 41% petroleum PLUS mineral oil. It’s great!
Which kind did you use? We just ran out of the prescription ointment for my son.
Hi Lisa,
I bought the biggest tub they sell. This works best for our purposes since we are covering big areas. I bought a tube for him to keep in his backpack at school in case he gets itchy, but he says it’s super hard to squeeze out since it’s so thick.
My hubby’s dermatologist also advises Aquaphor or Aveeno for his eczema. In addition she told him to use only the UNSCENTED variety of Dove bar soap for washing hands or body (no other hand soap or shower gel). Since beginning that routine, and even more so since going on a grain free diet, his skin has cleared up entirely. This is after years of painfully dry, cracked, bleeding hands and dry patches on legs, arms, & torso, especially during the cold & dry winter months.
I purchased 4 of the Aquaphor last week at Walgreens. BUT I could only use two of the $3 mfq s. The clerk said I could not use mfq on the 50% off items. Hence, this is why I seldom shop Walgreens. Too many hoops to jump thru.
You can use a coupon towards the 50% off item as long as the item is over the value of the coupon. I.e. $3.49 item can have a $3 coupon used towards it. $2.99 item can not. If the items are buy 1 get 1 free then you can not use a coupon towards the “free” item because the item rings up as $0
Have been lucky enough to get tons of these as free samples at the pediatrician and dermatologist offices this fall. Keep your eyes peeled. Also the medical offices sometimes have baskets full of generous coupons for these kinds of products.
Oh cool! Thanks for the heads up! Good to know!
I just bought Aquaphor Healing Ointment for the first time. It’s my first time here in the Winter and my skin got all dry and was peeling a lot. I bought it on Sunday at CVS and once I applied it, it got rid of all problems right away! (Like magic). I mixed it with my Eucerin Lotion because I thought it was too thick. I would definitely buy it again!
Thanks so much for the feedback! Glad to hear how well it has worked on your skin!
It also works great for acne scars or any kind of scar really
