WHAT IS DASH BUTTON?
Amazon Dash Button is a Wi-Fi connected device that reorders your favorite product with the press of a button. Each Dash Button is paired with a product of your choice, which is selected during the set-up process. When you’re running low, simply press Dash Button—ensuring you never run out of your essentials again.
And don’t fret as there is order protection! With this setting, Dash Button will not place a new order until your prior order is delivered—regardless of how many times Dash Button is pressed. You will also receive an order notification for every order placed and you can cancel orders at any time before they are marked as “Shipping Soon”.
Can someone further explain?
I buy the physical button for $1.99, then I pay what price for the item when I press the button? What is the $1.99 getting me? Can someone give a sample deal…. this sounds a lot more expensive than just ordering the item I want from my Amazon app. But I see on another site people are super excited about this so it must be some sort of deal…. thanks!!
You pay $1.99 and then get $4.99 credit for the products you can buy with the button when you set it up and press it for the first time. People are getting excited for free $3. I agree that the dash buttons are useless otherwise.
I bought a handful of buttons (air freshener, sanitary pads) when there was a similar sale last time, used them once, deactivated them and gave them to my toddler to play with.
Are these just extra pieces of plastic to order something? Don’t we already waste enough from all of the packaging everything is in? I’m not understanding this one either!
I so agree! It’s nice to get things for free, but we must keep in mind the environmental impact too.
Agree!! more plastic. more trash!
I agree. I don’t understand the dash button thing when I can order from the Amazon app within seconds, for free, without having to keep up with a button device… Am I missing something?
I think the idea is that you can place the button right near where you use the item, so that right when you realize you’re low/need it, you can press it to order so that you don’t forget. I often realize I need something in the moment, only to get distracted and forget about it shortly thereafter.
I don’t get these. Why wouldn’t you just pull up the app on your phone and hit reorder???
I’ve seen little adds where it shows kids pressing it for things like mac and cheese and granola bars. For families or people who rely on specific items regularly. Or little college student me who just wants $3 off lol.
Exactly! Horrible for the environment, extra clutter in the house, risk of the kids ordering. Not seeing any reason this is s goid idea.
When I first read this, I thought it was an April’s Fool Day joke that Colin play’s on us. I have now had my caffeine and realize this is a real thing. Wouldn’t you need lots of buttons all over your house??? I can see my pantry door now… I would have one of those over the door shoe hangers just to keep my buttons organized.
This would have totally been a clever one for Collin and April Fools!
Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen with kids pressing the button. Plus how lazy can someone be- Amazon makes it so easy online! If anything, companies should be giving these away, not charging for them.
It’ll only order once, no matter how many time they press the button
The dash button concept is foreign to us because we are here for deals and it’s designed for convenience. You push the button and get something when you need it, at the current price (likely not on sale). Most of us are used to stocking up when an item is on sale and don’t like buying things at full price only when we are completely out and need it now. I kind of think Amazon missed the mark with the dash button concept, especially now that you can just verbally tell the echo to order whatever you want—-no need to buy a separate device for each product you want on demand. Plus, the dash buttons aren’t tied to i.e. ALL Tide products, you can only buy certain Tide products with the Tide dash button. Not as convenient as you’d think!
This is really well said! 🙂
I think this concept would be helpful for our aging parents and older adults that cant drive or have difficulty shopping, etc. For example the dog food dash button is perfect for my MIL. She cant walk around in a store anymore and has trouble lifting items. She is not tech savy enough to order online but we can set this up in her house for her to push when she needs dog food!
Now there is a smart and clever use!
Wow great idea!!
I’m out of Nerfs! Quick press the button!! Sorry but I can’t help but have fun with this.
Who buys nerfs on a regular basis?!? Ok as a kid I would have loved it but I don’t see it as a product you really buy more than once?
This cracked me up!
WE’RE OUT OF PLAYDOH!
No one panic. Simply go to the junk draw, dig through the pens, pencils, ketchup packets, stickers, post-it, paper clips (ouch! Push pins) and FIND the Playdoh button. Press it! Ahhh, relax and wait two days.
That cracks me up! 😀
Tee hee
LOL Penny! You would never want a play doh tragedy! But if your toddler has access to the button, you may end up with a play doh stock pile!
But, dang it, the battery died, or it’s wet, or the dog chewed it.
The people at amazon are constantly trying to relieve people from their hard earned money. What gimmick will they come up with next. lol
Useless. I bought one, and couldn’t connect it. Amazon refunded me, but wouldn’t take the button back, so into the nearest landfill it went 🙁
Oh bummer! Sorry to hear it did not work out. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
I could never just blindly order from amazon. Their pricing changes multiple times a day on some items.
Yeah this is my biggest problem with it.
Agreed! Sometimes they can mark stuff up to some whacky price I’d NEVER pay. I could never blindly just place an order. Otherwise, it might would be sort of fun.
just adding to the landfill with these. Amazon should almost be ashamed for this trivial junk
Dear Amazon, Stop trying to make the Dash button a thing. It’s just not happening. (In other news, we appreciate your deal hunting for us, Collin!)
You’re very welcome Amanda! 😉
Collin, if I got a button the last time they had a deal, can I get a different button and still get the $4.99 credit? Or can you only get the credit once?
Hi there! It looks like it is limited to one credit per Dash Button. Here is what the details list: “Offer limited to one account credit per Dash Button purchased during the promotion period. The maximum benefit you may receive in connection with this offer is $4.99 per Dash Button purchased.” Hope this helps!
