WHAT IS DASH BUTTON?
Amazon Dash Button is a Wi-Fi connected device that reorders your favorite product with the press of a button. Each Dash Button is paired with a product of your choice, which is selected during the set-up process. When you’re running low, simply press Dash Button—ensuring you never run out of your essentials again.
And don’t fret as there is order protection! With this setting, Dash Button will not place a new order until your prior order is delivered—regardless of how many times Dash Button is pressed. You will also receive an order notification for every order placed and you can cancel orders at any time before they are marked as “Shipping Soon”.
Do these buttons sound useless to you? Here are a few reader comments from past posts:
I think this concept would be helpful for our aging parents and older adults that can’t drive or have difficulty shopping, etc. For example, the dog food dash button is perfect for my mother-in-law. She can’t walk around in a store anymore and has trouble lifting items. She is not tech savy enough to order online but we can set this up in her house for her to push when she needs dog food!
I think the idea is that you can place the button right near where you use the item, so that right when you realize you’re low/need it, you can press it to order so that you don’t forget. I often realize I need something in the moment, only to get distracted and forget about it shortly thereafter.
Can you set these for a specific card ? Like so it’s not attached to your one click?
Good question. Maybe you could buy a prepaid Visa and buy the dash button with that?
This is an exercise in math for me. Even with the extra $4 credit applied, it seems that the things I want are still more expensive than in the stores I usually get them. For example, if you’re looking for Ziploc bags, they are still way cheaper at Sam’s.
I really think these are geared more towards people who are willing to pay for the convenience. My in-laws, for example, don’t look at prices when they shop. The idea is foreign and horrifying to me (and, thankfully, to my husband as well). They don’t shop sales or anything! And then wonder why they don’t have any money… but I’m sure that’s unrelated! If prices didn’t matter, these would be awesome! And yes, someone mentioned elderly relatives – I don’t care if Grandma spends an extra $5 on toilet paper, if she can press the button to order it when she takes the last roll and not run out. Same with a disabled adult living alone, etc. But not for me. I got coupons to use!!
Many things on amazon Prime are convenience based and not for the frugal shopper.
I ordered the Gift Card one! This way I don’t have to worry about the price of the item I’m buying. I agree that many of the items available with the Dash button can be found cheaper at the store. For some the convenience it worth it, but not for me. Lol
I can’t get the code to work with the gift card button. I’m on my mobile devise …
Jen – You’re a genius! I didn’t know there was a gift card option! I’ll take $4 free any day …
Nevermind. Code “DASHBDAY” isn’t allowed with the gift card button. Dang.
Off topic: I have a shutterfly code for a free magnet AND set of stickers that expires today. Email me if you want it. Bvluedecke @ yahoo.com
I think it’s a great idea! My mother lives out of state and it’s hard for to carry items like laundry soap or a case of water, I’ll be getting this for her!
I was thinking it would be good for people with memory issues like the elderly/Alzheimer.
How sweet! Happy you could grab her a dash button Helen!
There’s one for the Amazon elements baby wipes. They are our favorite, and the same price as the SAMs ones.
what happens when your 3 year old keeps pressing the button and you have an amazon truck outside with your toddlers massive delivery lol
LOL ..well are we not glad they have a built-in safety device on the Dash Button. 😉 One order at a time.
WOAH! I applied the Birthday Credit ..and guess what? My Dash Button was completely free!! (Button was on sale for 3.99 $) I will also get a dollar credit for a book or other item because I chose the slower shipping time.
Awesome! 😀
April fools, right?
