Looking to do some Spring cleaning and organizing on the cheap? Here are TEN of my favorite Dollar Tree storage and organizational items that I’ve found to help keep things neat and organized. And what I love about Dollar Tree is that every singe item in the store is just ONE Dollar each! Yep, just $1!
1.) Store Crayons in Soap Containers (Great for Traveling!)
Dollar Tree has a plethora of storage containers! Consider placing crayons or small toys in travel soap containers (they also have nice snack containers with lids!) so you can easily grab them on-the-go.
2.) Save Room with Stacking Bins Under the Sink
These sturdy bins are great for using under the bathroom or kitchen sink to hold miscellaneous hair products, razors, soap bars, medicines, facial care products, sponges, dishwasher tabs and more!
3.) Keep Scarves Tidy with Shower Curtain Hooks
Not sure what to do with all your scarves? Pick up a pack of Shower Curtain Rings and some hangers to create a simple and effective way to keep your scarves organized without taking up much room.
4.) Organize Sock Drawers with Collapsible Fabric Bins
These fabric collapsible storage containers may get overlooked at Dollar Tree, but I love them for keeping my kiddos sock and/or underwear drawers neat and tidy.
5.) Keep Loose Cords in Toothbrush/Eyeglass Holders
Tired of finding random cords around the house and not sure who’s they are or what they go to? Keep track of charging cables, earbuds, and other cords in toothbrush holders (or eyeglass carrying cases) and label them with the contents. This makes traveling a breeze as the holders fit nicely in all bags!
Hip Tip – The eyeglass carrying cases are not as long as the toothbrush holders, but they are really nice for holding bulkier cables/cords as they have space in the top and bottom of the case. They also snap shut so they keep things securely inside the case.
6.) Store Winter Boots Upright Using Pool Noodles
Have boots that tend to lop over? Keep your winter boots upright in the closet with pool noodles – just cut them to size and place inside the boots during the summer months to help them hold their shape.
7.) Hold Sand Toys in Mesh Laundry Bags
One thing about the beach is that sand…gets…everywhere. Keep those sand toys in mesh bags at the beach so you can shake out the sand before packing in the car instead of bringing it home with you.
8.) Display Jewelry with Metal Cooling Rack
Make your own jewelry holder! Just pick up a metal cooling rack for a buck, hang it on the wall and then you’ll be able to easily display and organize your earrings, sunglasses, necklaces and more.
9.) Store Essential Oils Using Makeup Organizers
Use essential oils and have a lot of little bottles laying around? Keep them organized with the clear makeup organizers at Dollar Tree. There are several different shapes and sizes to choose from too.
10.) Make Your Own Movie Night Bins with Shower Caddies
Make movie night fun and personalized for each family member! Grab some shower caddies, a few designated popcorn containers, and plastic/mason jar tumblers with straws and fill them with treats that each person enjoys. Wash & reuse these items time and time again to make every movie night fun!

i am obsessed with the baskets that have all the scroll work cut out. they are beautiful! i always scoop them up when the new season colors come out. Then come tome to give a gift and ill use one of the baskets. My entire gift closet is organized using bins and containers from the dollar tree as well. they cube bins that are made out a canvas like material, that fold flat, hold so much. the quality is always super awesome but if you take care of them…they are totally worth that dollar!!

Does anyone have tips for organizing in the car? I bought those bags that hang from the front headrests – but they were too far for my kids to reach. I wish that the car seats came with trays like a high chair so they had some place to eat and color on long trips…TIA!

Love it!! I’m totally going to do the stacking bins under the bathroom sinks. My husband was just complaining that nothing fits down there because of my stockpile of personal care items.

I use the shower caddy in the garage for my garden planting stuff. I use it for the seeds and little digger trowel, little rake and gloves and it holds some of the flowers from the flat which I carry and plant. You can put your little sticks to ID where you plant and string and sissors in etc. in another one. They are really handy planting.

I use eye glass holders for a pens & high lighters. I usually can store about 4 or 5 in a eye glass holder. I use a pencil pouch to carry meds in my purse. I put EpiPens, an inhaler, travel size of ibuprofen & liquid Benadryl too. Just my 2¢ 😉

The fabric bins come flattened out, so they can be easy to miss. Mine are located by the clothes hangers at the end of the hardware aisle. They come in quite a few colors and sizes.

I watched a couple of DIY on youtube, one life hack im going to start using is the cardboard toliet paper tube to store your extra cords and wires. Then you write on the tube what type of wire it is. Usb cord, 6 ft extention, hdmi, etc.
I get pop up laundry baskets from dollar tree before going on vacation. It folds flat for in your suitcase but can pop up while there so kids and everyone don’t throw their clothes all over the hotel room.

I do that too! My son plays travel hockey so we are in a hotel about 1-2 weekends a month from Oct.-April. I pack the clothes in the cubes, put out the pop up laundry basket in the hotel. Then when it’s time to pack up I just dump the pop up basket of dirty clothes in the bottom of the suit case and fold up the basket, and I’m packed. No mixing dirty and clean clothes up in the hotel. Love it!

One warning about Dollar Tree. They NEVER issue refunds for any reason, including defective products. I bought a bunch of lightsabers and blaster guns for my son’s “star wars” party. Well I get them home and decide to test them. Only half of them work. So I take them back but the store doesn’t have any more so I asked for a refund, figuring I could find something similar at Wal-Mart. Nope. No refund even for defective products that they can’t replace. I thought it might just be a stubborn manager so I called corporate. They were not particularly nice when they pointed out that ever receipt has No Refunds printed on it. So yeah, make sure everything works and is in perfect condition before buying it, because once they have your money they are not giving it back for any reason.
That has not been my experience. While they don’t give a straight up refund, I’ve always been able to exchange any defective items for anything else in the store. Just recently my mom bought some hair gel. A few days later there was some gross black looking mold growing in it. (she hadn’t even used it yet, it was just sitting on top of her dresser). Cashier was super nice letting her swap out for another bottle.
I agree with Mel. My “return” was an exchange of one item (no longer needed) for another item, in the past. Maybe I got lucky but my store was super nice about it.
I’m shocked Kristie Mae that the supervisor did not realize that an exchange for the defective items SHOULD be the way to go. Most managers have a heart when you point out that the items don’t work straight from the package and that they are for a child’s birthday party. What do they have to lose ($20 or so)? Some managers will do the right thing and allow the exchange. So sorry this happened to you.
I have been able to exchange items for anything in the store.
No refunds but have always been able to exchange. Can always find something to pick up…my dollar tree doesn’t ask that the item needs to be the same either. I can exchange for any other item in the store.
My experience has been great! … mine WILL allow you to exchange for ANY item in the store. Yay!

I am EXTREMELY addicted to Dollar Tree storage containers and bins!!!! Especially the ones that are die cut with a floral pattern. They are so pretty. I often use them in place of gift bags now!!! The colors are so pretty too. Ugh I just love the Dollar Tree! Every room in my house has at least 1 storage container from the Dollar Tree. I’ve organized my entire gift closet, shelves in my craft rooms, incoming and outgoing mail and the notorious kitchen “junk drawer”, shipping supplies and much more. I’ve had a couple break on me but that’s nothing compared to how much money you can save. Especially on those cube organizers…you spend so much on the shelf itself and then need to buy the cube bins for another $5 – $10 a piece yet! It’s crazy. I bought some years and years ago and guess what? The Dollar Tree cubes lasted longer then the wooden shelf did!!!!!! Go Dollar Tree!!!!!!!! lol.
I agree with the person above who said the dollar tree organization videos are always all the same…however I came across a very nifty trick last night for the crochet and knitters out there.
*Wind your new skein around a paper towel roll or something similar (you can use a drill to speed the process up and keep things even). Then using one of the tall square bins with various size holes on the sides, place the tube of yarn inside and run a wooden dowel thru it. Think toilet paper holder…so as you pull the yarn it unwinds very easy and with pretty much no tension at all. I think it’s brilliant esp for color changes!!!!
The bin I am referring to for the yarn trick is the one right to the left of the cart handle….The stack of green bins with one blue on the very top!
I love cutting pool noodles to fit on my pants hangers so I don’t get that ugly crease across the legs from hanging on a skinny hanger and if you have a pop up shade tent you can use them to keep water from gathering and making the tent sag with pockets of water. You put them underneath at the top of the frame on all four sides to make the rain run off. I use a pop up laundry hamper with a garbage bag inside for family cookouts or camping to throw the trash in and even when we have get together inside and we are eating they do not fill up as quick as a small kitchen garbage can.
Those same shower caddies I used as diaper caddies. Each room in the house basically had a stock of 3+ diapers, a full flip top soft pack wipes, a burp cloth and bib, tube of desitin, travel sized sanitizer gel, a ziploc with some quips, another zip local with extra pacifiers. Saved me the running around.
I use the shower caddie to store plastic-ware. Knives in the small compartment, spoons in the medium compartment, forks in the large compartment. I just grab it out of the closet and set it out for potlucks. Also, I tried the shower curtain rings on a hanger for scarves, but the rings tended to snag my scarves (I have a bunch of the thin summer type scarves). My Dollar Tree actually has a hanger of circles that has a velvet type coating. I use that for my winter scarves. They also have a belt hanger with the velvet coated hooks. I use that for my thinner summer scarves.
I use the shower caddies for kid to eat in the car. Each kid gets their choice of color, fits their food, fries, drink. etc.
Keep the cheap organizing tips coming! Thats my new years resolutions!
