9 cruises on DCL. There is truly nothing better. The service and what they include (ex room service, unlimited soda, etc) is so far above other lines! I am finding this out with a pathetic booking we have on MSC this summer. We were flat out stupid not to just use the money for DCL cruise #10. I have so many wonderful stories from DCL I would take over this post. And we don’t have kids. Don’t think for a minute it’s just a family ship.

One of my favorite experiences is Jack Sparrow (a Depp look alike) showing up at our adult beach cabana on my anniversary and looking me in the eyes and saying “welcome to Paradise my love!” I thought my husband set this up but the look of shock on his face said otherwise! Lol

Anything from NYC with a stop at Cape Canaveral will have the tickets. Be VERY aware that those cruises run during hurricane season! Last year at least 1 was rerouted up to Canada.
Second favorite memory: seeing a life sized brown rat hauling its butt across the atrium/midship Deck 3, running as fast as it could from children and the handler didn’t know what to do. My brain could not comprehend why a life sized brown rat was running. Then I remembered I was on a Disney ship and that rat was Emile, Remy’s brother from Ratatouille.

Completely agree with CW, Disney cruises are the best! I am sooo excited that they will now leave and return to New York! Saves lots of money with no flights! If you are on the fence, do it, you will not be sorry. Best family vacation we have been on:)

We love DCL, but for a family of 5, the price has gotten ridiculous. We just did a Royal Caribbean cruise on Oasis of the Seas for a third of the price, and were very pleased with the quality of the ship, service, food, excursions, and activities.
Yes, but Oasis class it’s a tad big and you actually have to wait in line for things. Go down to the freedom ships and he will enjoy even more!!!
We did Anthem as a couple and the people on the ship were the worst!! Cutting in line, standing in the middle of elevators when people are trying to crowd in, drunk… and the smoking area was right on the pool deck, half the time I’d get turned around and have to walk through thick smoke. And see all the little kids hanging around while their parents smoked 🙁

They’re going to Bermuda this year!! LOVED Bermuda, all the beauty of a Caribbean island with none of the people getting in your face to get you to buy stuff. Grammy wants to do a Christmas cruise though (I know, poor us, right??)
Also, if you’re even considering going, book your trip on opening day. Prices go up, fast! And deposits are 100% refundable up to around 100 days before sailing (I’ve done it so it’s true, no problems getting your money back!) (unless you travel concierge class, rules are different there). Book and cancel, because you can’t go back in time to book at the better price later.
We just had our first Disney cruise in March this year. We left out of Port Canaveral. It was sooo nice. My daughter was very seasick the first night. Mostly, because she never recovered from driving all day the day before. She fell asleep in my arms while we were eating and one of the waiters pushed two chairs together, layed her down on them, then covered her up with a nice clean tablecloth so I was able to finish my meal. When we would come back to our room everything was magically cleaned up to the point we almost wouldn’t recognize our own room. The shows are just above and beyond awesome. Disney is perfect for families, single adults, .. whomever. Yes it costs more but IMO, it was worth it. Who doesn’t need a little magic after all?
Another thing I wanted to mention. The process to board on a Disney cruise was surprisingly flawless. No long lines or extended wait times. I had planned to be stuck somewhere waiting while people to check passports, take care of luggage.. blah, blah. It was nothing like that. Completely painless experience…I dare say it was almost fun!
Yes! We went on our first Disney cruise last August and the service was night and day compared to other cruise lines. Disney treats everyone like royalty! And I have never checked I’m or debarked that fast on any cruise.
Loved Disney cruises. Nothing’s even comes close. And our kids were not little!

My sister and I are taking our first cruise next month (to Alaska) but it’s on Princess Cruises not Disney. We heard Disney Cruises are really nice but found a last minute deal with Princess – hoping it’s not a disappointment! If anyone has any cruising tips for first timers I’d love to hear them – we are very worried that we will be seasick the whole time!
its my first time doing disney wondering if anyone could offer any tips on the booking process like whats included in the cost and i know some cruises you need to have a passport is this one of them
Good morning Gail. Depending on which cruise you are referring to; you do not technically need a passport on closed looped cruises (departing in the US and arriving in the US). I always recommend getting a passport for all travelers for the just in case. I have heard of travelers getting sick or hurt and having to be taken to the nearest hospital which is not always in the US. If you have time be prepared and get the passports. We have been thinking of going to Disney world December 2018 with family. For those who have done that and a cruise, which did you enjoy more? The cruise seems like it would be less work to plan & less exhausting once you’re there, but of course there aren’t rides which might disappoint the older kids & husbands.
