I think this may be good for my kids who are 6 and 9. Can anyone give me any reviews or input on this type of metal frame pool? Do I need to be replacing the filter or will it last the summer? TIA
We had one of the enormous soft sided ones back in the day, and the filters CAN last all summer, but you have to take them out and spray them with a high pressure hose every week or 2. Also, get a chlorine bobber and tablets, makes things a lot easier than trying to use powdered chlorine!!
I have been using the easy set kind not the frame one for 8 years. They need replacing every couple of years. The things I have learned: Do not let the filter tip and run. It will burn up and no longer work. I like to support it with sand bags. Use the salt instead of chlorine. It costs less, and my pool no longer turns green. I could never keep it clear with chlorine and it cost a fortune. The filter inserts will need to be replaced. They last a few weeks unless you invest an old tooth brush and elbow work to clean them. I guess they could be pressure washed if you have one. They cost a few dollars each. I hope this helps.
I was curious about using salt instead of chlorine for our blow up intex pool. Do you have any tips?
Make sure your pump is large enough. Pumps enough gph or it will not work and flash “low flow”. That problem is no fun. Other then that it is really simple. Just fill the pool add the correct amt of salt, start the filter and salt system and you are good to go. The salt system gets cleaned with vinegar every 2-3 weeks but it is not hard. You just unplug the electric, stop up the pool water from draining out of the pool, disconnect the system, attach the gray cap and fill with vinegar and let sit until the salt build up is gone from the copper plate. It should only take 30 min to an hour for the vinegar to clean it. If it does not come off, an old tooth brush can be used to gently clean it off. I hope this helps.
So with this particular pool, I can use salt and not need to purchase a different pump than the one that’s included? I went ahead and purchased it last night, but don’t want to pay another $150 for the pump on Amazon mentioned below… Thanks for all the replies!
Yes u need to purchase the salt filter. It is not a pump. The pump that comes with the pool will pump the water through the salt machine. It is an add on price. But it will save you tons of money in the long run. Chlorine is a time consuming process, you will have to buy a test kit which costs money, and you will be shocking the pool every week which is expensive and time consuming and your pool will be out of commission while that is being done. With my salt machine I do not test my water, I do not need to because my water stays clear. It is soooo easy. The salt water is gentle on the eyes and does not fade the swim suits. I highly recommend it.
Thank u! Was going to order the same one off Amazon but with this deal got a giftcard! 👍
You’re welcome!
we started using the salt water last year, love it! you just add the salt once and the salt water pump converts it to chlorine.
