Heads up all you Target shoppers!

In an effort to make for an easier shopping experience, Target has moved Cartwheel offers into the main Target app. This move allows you to have just one place to map out store trips, snag Cartwheel deals on in-store purchases, swipe through the weekly ad, make online purchases and more. Check out this article for more details.

Ready to get started?
  • Download the Target app in iTunes or Android  (if you don’t have it already) – note that it is now listed as “Target—now with Cartwheel.”
  • Open up the Target app and you’ll be prompted to log in to your Target.com account.
  • Start browsing, scanning and saving on your next trip to Target.

Please note – if you previously used a social account like Facebook or Google for your Cartwheel login, you will now need to use your Target.com account (or create a new one) to make sure your existing offer list and lifetime savings transfer over to the Target app.

Can we still just use the old cartwheel app or do we have 2 download this new one?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It appears you will need to access the Cartwheel Offers from the Target app now.

    • Mel

I was in Target this morning when I tried opening the CW app. It directs you to the Target app, which I already have, so I just opened CW from there. I was bummed that the scan upc option was gone. Couldn’t ck what I had in my cart to make sure they matched. Everything did come off at the register. But tedious to type and find the offer.

      • Marcine

I still have the scan upc option. On the first screen when you open the target app there is an icon that looks like a barcode next to the search icon. Scans items and brings up any coordinating cartwheels.

        • Mel

My phone just did an update on the Target app, and the scanner is there now. The app changed format from when I used it this morning.

  2. OLGa

I thought they were removing Cartwheel?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi there! Still available! They have been moved to the Target App. 😉

  3. Kristy

If you were part of the regional Perks program, check your account. Yesterday was the last day to earn perks but today they rounded up perk points so you’re able to redeem a perk if you didn’t have enough point before! Yay!

    • spiggy

Thanks just checked and received the perk!

    • lori

Yeah Man! I was almost to the next perk yesterday. So I spent just a little bit to get the last perk ever. I ended up going just a tiny bit over what I needed. I did get yesterday’s perk and then another today. I’m glad they rounded UP! Two$10 rewards coming my way!!!

      • cheezeheadtn

Yea… How do you sign up for regional parks program?

    • Marla

Hi, how do you become part of the Perks program?

      • Kristy

It was a regional test program. I’m not sure all the regions that were included. However they decided (after numerous couponers abused the program) to discontinue the program in the regional areas and not open it up to other areas. It’s no longer available.

So now we can’t get away with not having a smartphone? 🙁

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You can still access Cartwheel offers on your desktop. Just go to Target.com and click on the “deals” drop down tab, then click on Cartwheel and sign in to your Target account. Hope this helps! 😉

    • Mita

I think you can still load your Cartwheel up on their website and print the barcode out.

  5. Jojo

Super off topic but does anyone have a $25 off $250 Costco online purchase code they won’t be using?

    • SJ

Yes, post your email and I’ll send mine to you. I’ll check back in a few hours!

    • SJ

Yes, I do. Post your email and I’ll send it to you. I’ll check back in a few hours!

        • SJ

Sent with subject “Hip 2 Save….”

          • Jojo

Got it, SJ! Thank you a million times over! You’re the best!

            • SJ

              Wahoo! Happy to help.

Do you need a data plan to access at the store? Does Target offer free wifi?

    • Brittany

      target offers free wi-fi

    • Nana Donna 2 6

Yes, in Iowa anyway. My problem is it quickly drains my iPod battery if I do any kind of searching…especially for a barcode. I’ve mentioned having a docking station in the store and was told I could go to electronics and they’d charge it for me (free). Still it’s an inconvenience. I’ve got a printout of my cartwheel code as backup.

    • AP

      Free wifi

  7. Laura

    Just made the switch.
    Super quick and easy

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Glad to hear that Laura!

  8. Sara

    Thank you!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome!

  9. Amy

I can’t get the target app to move my cartwheel info over to the app. It keeps saying server error. Does the new app require a certain amount of $ to be spent before “unlocking” additional spaces for cartwheel offers?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hmm, maybe wait a moment and check back again. Hoping it works for you soon!

  10. Vivian

I don’t like it. Well the idea is nice, but it’s difficult to toggle between browsing store items and cartwheel. If I’m browsing an item, then I have to hit back back back back to get to the home page then open cartwheel. There should just be permanent cartwheel button on the bottom, or maybe I’m not using it right?

    • Carrie

      I feel the same way.

  11. Holli

Anyone else have problems with the target.com app or on the computer moving so slow. I get frustrated and end up never ordering from the site. So I’m sure I’m really going to hate the cartwheel offers going there.

  12. Jackie

I think we just have to get used to the new changes but to me it seams very similar. You can still scan the items and find cartwheels offers. I just scan them and then hit barcode at the end and it’s like the old cartwheel. The difference is that before it was checkout now it’s barcode. Super easy!

  13. Deb E

I use a printed bar code at the register. Just did it yesterday and hopefully can continue with these changes. I’ll do desktop apps but that’s about it.

  14. Nana Donna 2 6

Has anyone done this for an iPad mini? In the past 6 months or more whenever I logged into the Target app, I got a message that the iPad app is being discontinued and to use the iPad friendly user website Target.com. I went to the App Store to find the newest app and it doesn’t show the new one with Cartwheel. So I’m confused now if an iPad will no longer have this combo and my Cartwheel will remain as a separate app.

    • Nana Donna 2 6

I just went to my iPod that I use for shopping. I went to the Target app (downloaded long time ago) and all my Cartwheel stuff/barcode was there. I didn’t have to download anything. After playing around with it and getting familiar with the layout, I think this is going to be easier. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but what doesn’t these days of ever changing apps, software, etc. True test will be when I’m physically in the store and at the checkout line. If all goes well, I’ll delete the Cartwheel app. Good Luck!

  15. Abby

What is the benefit to having your lifetime savings transfer? Do I get special offers if my lifetime savings is higher? At certain thresholds?

    • Mel

No benefit. At one time, there were badges you could collect for reaching certain milestones, and it would unlock more slots. I believe you started off with either 10 or 12 and you’d earn more spots with the badges. A few months ago, they changed it and now everyone gets the same 50 slots to fill and the badges are gone.

  16. Julie M

I ignored the prompt to install the target app and clicked on “I will check it later”and the cartwheel app came up with all of the features still functioning. I will start using the Target app once the cartwheel app stops functioning,

Is there a date that the cartwheel app will stop working or cease to exist?

    • sharon

      Me too.

  17. Dodda

I am still able to access my cartwheel app

    • Catie

      I am too

  18. Trina

I used the cartwheel app this morning

  19. aj

So happy they rounded up my perks to give me another reward.

  20. Barbara

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the Target app will have a map of the particular store you are in, which will show you a listing of CW deals for each aisle/dept. I’d love this option instead of inputting random searches as I browse the aisles.

    Has anyone else heard similar?

    • thehenrydthoreau

This means they are tracking customers through the store. I am only turning on my device at check out.

  21. Jerri

Can I delete the Cartwheel app first, and then download the Target app and still have all my cartwheel stats saved? I don’t have room on my phone to have both apps at once.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes, that should work. You will be able to login to your Cartwheel account through the Target app to connect your account. Hope this helps!

  22. Kristine

I was at my local Target today here in CaliforniaI just used cw app

  23. Jill

Once u open target app click list at the bottom, barcode is at the top right hand corner above cartwheel offers. Hope this helps.

  24. Suzanne

Is it ok to delete the cartwheel app?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yes.

    • Padma

Before you delete it though, check your old app and see if they rounded up perks for you (if you had that in the first place). A lot of us got that and this feature is not available in the new combined app.

  25. Jill

Sorry, I meant barcode is below cartwheel offers.

  26. Glitzy b

can the perks earned through the cartwheel app be used on online purchases or just in store like the cart wheel offers? tia

    • Padma

      Just in stores
