Does anyone have recommendations for a booster? My son is 5 (but very small) and his convertible expires in Jan, so I need to start looking at a replacement. What features are a must? Any better for smaller kids (he doesn’t weigh 40lbs yet & many say that’s the min weight). Thanks!

I would highly suggest getting the seat for him. This seat can be turned into a booster after the kid is too heavy for the five point harness. Please excuse my two cents, but if your son is small, it would be much safer for him to sit in a five point harness until he reaches the maximum weight for the harness. I was in a very bad car accident with my four kids two years ago. All four of them were in the 5 point harness Dion Raduan RXT seats (2 if them were heavy enough for just a booster). Each one of them walked away with only marks on their shoulders and chest from the harness. I am still suffering from a soft tissue shoulder injury that I suffered during that crash due to my seatbelt despite months of physical therapy. I am convinced that had they been in a seat with a seatbelt instead of a five-point harness, they would be having very similar issues. My son is 8 now and over 60 lbs and he still uses the five-point harness option for this seat. This seat is the best one out there, and this is a wonderful price for it!

Thank you for the review! I completely agree with you on the 5 point harness. My 7 year old is still in a seat with a 5 point harness and I plan to continue using it until he outgrows it!
My younger son is not quite ready for this seat yet, so I hope there’s a deal on it when we are ready!

The RXT is outgrown as a booster almost as soon as it’s outgrown as a 5 point harness so this wouldn’t be a great seat to get.

I think there is a seat called transitionz that is a good booster.
