Yes to furniture straps. For potty training, get an entire new toilet seat that has a magnetic toddler seat built in. We ordered ours from Amazon, but I’ve seen them at HomeDepot. Also the step stool in front of the toilet is a hassle for an adult that uses the same bathroom. Easy hack: buy a squatty potty! It fits around the toilet instead of sitting awkwardly in front of it. An adult can use the toilet without moving a step stool every time.
