It makes me laugh that people get so worked up over something as innocent as an inflatable poop costume. If someone gets a laugh out of it and finds it to be a fun and silly costume idea, where is the harm in that? A friend of mine was recently lamenting how difficult it’s been for her to find a Halloween costume for her daughter because of how sexualized girls’ and women’s costumes have become. I think that’s a far more “disgusting” problem for parents to deal with than a lighthearted poop joke. Personally, I welcome any costume options that focus more on being funny than being sexy.
After all, we ARE talking about Halloween costumes, here. Not exactly the height of seriousness or societal foundations.

The fact that Halloween costumes have become so sexualized did not escape me or my 12 year old son when we were walking around the Halloween store. He innocently says, “I hope they bring a jacket for trick or treating or they are going to be cold.” I was embarrassed to even be walking around the store and having him see the pictures. that’s gross. poop is natural. and the only think awful about poop is the percentages of the world’s population that doesn’t have proper sanitation facilities.
I agree on both issues! If you don’t like the poop costume, move on! And I grew up making my own costumes for Fasching in Germany and I continue doing it for my girls here in the US because I don’t like the costumes here. One of my girl had a superhero girls theme party and i made a simple but good looking Wondereoman outfit. Matching leggings with shirt. I had a tiara at home, just wrapped it up in gold foil from dollar store,threw a red star sticker on it, those arm thingies were made out of toilet paper wraps and wrapped in the same gold foil. She was my perfect Wonderwoman! 😊

I think it is in poor taste. Will I lose sleep over someone wearing it? No. But I have a right to my opinion just as much as those saying to lighten up. Sometimes there needs to be a standard of good taste. Standards just get worse any more. Just wait a few more years if just everything goes. Also, as someone who has had to clean up neighbors dog poop for years, it ain’t funny to me!
When will the market be oversaturated with this “poop” crap. At my daughter’s 1st grade party a parent brought in poop emoji keychains for prizes. Seriously? Oh but they had them in brown and pink so then at least there is choice. Gross. Where is the urine emoji? Oh and don’t forget snot. We have a right to think it is disgusting and classless just as much as the posters on here who find it cute. That doesn’t mean we are any less upset about real problems in the world.
