Do you all have any recommendations for a good couch from ikea?
We have the Karlstad and it has held up very well with 4 rowdy boys in our house. All the cushions are flippable and the cover is machine washable!

This is AWESOME!!! We tried all of the sofas a few weeks ago…and fell in love with the Norsborg. I’m worried about the longevity of the piece…I have four kiddos… my last sofa (Pottery Barn) lasted 17 years. I sold it two weeks ago and I’m missing it already (we don’t have a sofa atm). Hannah, how long has your Karlstad lasted?
We have it. Two small kids that aren’t easy on it. It has held up well EXCEPT the cushion on the corner seat (the best seat!). It is noticeably deflated. We’ve had the couch for a year. It is very comfortable and my kids love it, but we may only get a few years out of it. We are ok with that and bought it knowing that we’ll buy something else when the kids are bigger.

You have to put together alot of the furniture yourself so shipping huge boxes with a ton of pieces where one or a few might be missing? Ugh.. I had the Ektorp sofa set years ago but that definitely seems more like a singles or couples set, don’t think it would hold up to kids for too long.
If parts are missing, all you need to do is send a quick email and they mail it right out. I had one screw missing from a dresser and it was in my mailbox within a week. No biggie. You can also go to any Ikea and pick up spare parts there too! They have a whole display in Customer Service.
We’ve had our Ektorp sofa for 3 or 4 years and bought it used off of craigslist. We have 4 kids and it’s held up great! I love that the slipcovers are washable. I may take advantage of this deal to get the matching chair & ottoman!
Watch out for IKEA delivery. An item arrived damaged in August and after multiple attempts with customer service IKEA never responded. Finally had to dispute the charge with my CC company and even they can’t get an answer from IKEA. So if you live far away, it’s not great because you can’t return it in store. Check the BBB reviews.
