I purchased my FoodSaver about 2 months ago and a lot of Hip2Savers find them to be expensive per use when you buy the bags. And that isn’t necessarily wrong (I stock up when there are big sales). I don’t have the best of luck freezing meats generally and this helps a lot with only defrosting the portions I need with a husband who works a rotating night shift.

That said, I find that there is big value in being able to reseal food items in their original packaging. Bread, cereal, chips, snacks, frozen veggies or other foods, cheese – if it comes in a bag, I can reseal it and it helps keep things fresh so much longer. I opened a bag of chips 2 weeks ago and because I vacuum seal it each time, they are still good – not the case with using bag clips).

So don’t evaluate a food saver on just the cost of bags, definitely consider its other uses. It definitely is an item to keep on your counter if you want to get the most use out of it.

    Happy Shopping!

I agree monmyof2. My Food Saver is used alllll day every day. I absolutely ❤️ mine. By far the best appliance in my kitchen.
My son had been telling me for 3-4yrs I needed to get one and I would just blow him off. Finally I purchased mine and cannot understand how I ever lived without it!!
      #Food Saver rocks

I get my bags on amazon. They are commercial grad and way better than the food saver brand. This machine had paid for itself hundred times over!!

I have an older model and I would not live without it. I demonstrated this in the store and this machine is FANTASTIC..
I seal my chip bags, cheese, veggies, candy bags and all. Highly recommend this product.

Is this a good model of the food saver to get? Also, where does everyone get their bags? What would be a good brand & price for them? Thinking of getting our first food saver because things keep icing up in just the freezer ziplocs 😕 Thank you in advance!

Kohl’s will have these on sale several times throughout the year. I think with it being on sale, plus additional 30% off and a rebate, I paid $40 total for mine. This was over the summer and the rebate was an issue, ended up having to report it Ripoffreport before they finally sent me the Visa prepaid giftcard. So, if you’re willing to deal with the hassle, might be worth it to wait.
