We bought one of these last summer. They are awesome! My 10 yr old daughter loved I️t! Warning: the fabric is delicate. If you leave I️t in the fun it will fade a lot. Follow the instructions and I️t will last.
Thanks for the heads up! Good to know!
What do these actually do? Are these like flippers or is it just something to wear? Seems a little dangerous for little kids . . .having their legs bound together
It’s a single “flipper” (mono = one) with what is essentially a swimsuit to cover your legs and the fin. Monofins are traditionally used by free divers, but are becoming more common with the rise in popularity of “mermaiding,” which is a fantastic workout.
It’s not for “little kids” and it does not help a poor swimmer to swim. They’re for older children and adults (I own two, myself) who are already strong swimmers and want something fun to use in the pool or something to change up their exercise.
Both Fin Fun and Sun Tails have great safety documentation and tips on their websites (as do all fabric tail manufacturers), and Fin Fun has some excellent videos as well. These give you an idea of what the swimmer should be able to do as a baseline to be considered safe in a tail. And of course, children (and adults) should never be left alone in a pool.
So expensive…
What are these?
This is dumb
Yes, trying to figure out what these are actually for.. looks like just for show..mermaid blankets I can understand.
No, they aren’t just for show, they’re for swimming in. I own two in adult sizes, one from Sun Tails, and they’re both great fun and a fantastic core workout.
These are very dumb looking. I think people should spend their money on something else.
Oh ok then that’s good, if they’re useful for adults..
