Excited to make Christmas crafts?🎄

Here’s how to re-purpose a mini muffin tin into the cutest homemade advent calendar for counting down the days until Christmas! It’s super easy to accomplish and is also a fun activity to have the kiddos help with!

Fill each each space with a small piece of candy, chocolate, sticker, written notes of family activity ideas etc. Then your child can open one each day as Christmas approaches.

Muffin Tin Advent Calendar
Supplies Needed:

Directions:
  • Cut twenty four 2.25 inch circles out of holiday scrap book paper. (I used my Cricut cutting machine to do this task quickly, but you could also trace and cut.)

  • Fill each spot with a candy, chocolate coin, or written message. (The round metal tags I had fit perfectly inside so I used those to write messages.)

  • Cover each hole with a circle. I secured with Glue Dots. (You can use magnetic strips or a glue gun if desired.)

  • Apply numbered stickers on top for each circle, or write them by hand. (Note: I glued a round metal tag to each circle then added a number in order to see it clearer.)

  • Open one by one each day in December!

I love how this DIY advent calendar turned out!

Using a mini muffin pan is so perfect since there are exactly 24 spots! You could also use two standard sized muffin pans if you wanted to fill it with more surprises! I love that you can really customize it for your kids and family.

P.S. All my sticker embellishments pictured I picked up at Michael’s craft store.

Love it! My daughter refuses to eat the chocolate that comes in the picture calendars. I’d much rather personalize something like this.

I have an old muffin pan that I was getting ready to toss, so I’m gonna try this with it instead! 😉 …also this would be neat to use with elderly, my grandma would love surprises and doing something like this would have made her day, everyday!!

    • Lina D

      Aw how sweet! Great idea

  16. 3bettins

Could you make the circles out of sheets of magnets? Then they would stick and you could hang it,

    • Lina D

      Yes! Great idea!

    • Elizabeth Regalado

I was trying to figure out a way to make that possible. Thanks for the great idea!! 🙂

I’m making one for my girls. I ordered 24 favor boxes from OTC for $2.47. I’ll buy stickers n embellishments fr Michaels. My older girl loves miniatures so I’ll try to use mini toys. Will also use scripture verses about Jesus n Christmas. When they’re older, will use random acts of kindness/service. The decorated or wrapped boxes will b stacked into house shaped white wooden shelf fr Target. That’s my vision. Will share pics.

    • Lina D

Oh I love this! How great!

  18. Kay

We always make ours as well and use the leftover Halloween candy.

  19. Janelle

    Cute!

I made some last year with dixie cups and then covered the cup lids with tissue paper so it was punch out kind of a thing. It took time but the kids loved it!

    • Lina D

      That’s a fun idea! Thanks
