We just did broken crayons inside and melted with hairdryer with my kids and nieces and nephew. So pretty! And interesting to see all the different designs from the different colors they chose.
The hairdryer didn’t melt the plastic ornament?

These are great ideas. I will have to try some of these. My daughter and I painted some with nail polish and I used a glue gun with glitter glue to write our names on them. They were fun to decorate.

For my sons first Christmas I put multiple colors of paint on his hands (blotted them on paper) and had him grab the ornament. Then I painted the year on it. Once it dried I mod podged it. I love that we have it for his “First Christmas” ornament and also a keep sake with his tiny hand prints.
I did that too with my daughter
We made acrylic filled ornaments like these this week in first grade! Love the fabric ornaments! Modge podge fun!

My son and I made personalized ornaments with finding cheap charms at Michael’s that we attached with fishing line around the top part of the clear ornament almost like a small bracelet. The inside of the ornament we used the styrofoam filler to make it snow like. We tried to put the chars inside first, but they sunk and were not as enjoyable to see.
Someone had given us a clear ornament with our wedding invitation shredded up (I know this sounds weird, but it was nicely displayed) and a ribbon that coordinated with our wedding colors and it was really sweet and elegant. I thought it was a really good idea. No one expects you to keep the wedding invitation and it was a great use of it.

It’s a year later, but I only just found this post. My friends and I have done an ornament exchange for years now, but every year it gets more difficult to pick a new ideas. However there’s a few here I’ve never seen! Last year I used old light bulbs, painted them like a hot air balloon, and used twine for the basket. I think those might be my favorite that I’ve made so far.
