Babs, I’m not Anna, but many conservative Christians believe DND to be “demonic”. If you allow your children to read or watch LOTR or Narnia, then you should have no problem with DND. My brother played it for years, no issues, and my teenage sons enjoy it as well. Don’t believe or get sucked into the ridiculous hype. It’s fun, fantasy role playing that’s it.
I would put it in the same category as a Ouija board. You must be very careful what you expose your children to. They have enough in the world without handing it to them. It’s known through mainstream Christianity that this is harmful and if you believe the Bible at all it warns of this. Of course, you can do what you want but there may be consequences down the road for you and your child.
We’ll have to agree to disagree. I grew up in Christian Fundamentalism, and this is in no way comparable to a Ouija board. You do not conjure spirits in D&D. You make up your own scenarios of what you want. You can be a gnome bard, you can be a dwarf cleric. The options are limitless. To each their own, and please do not threaten people with “consequences”, that’s just ridiculous.
Also, I disagree that this is the same as Narnia. It’s very different, there are not demons in Narnia. I don’t know about lotr as I’ve never been able to stay awake through that one. Lol
The point is that Narnia is Fantasy, as is LOTR. But since it has a “Christian” label parents have no problem with it. Even though there are evil Characters and scenarios in both series. You can make D&D just like Narnia or LOTR. There doesn’t have to be anything “demonic” about it! You create you’re own story.
