Yay! I was planning on going to Michael’s this weekend for this very thing! Thank you!!

      You’re welcome, Erika!

FYI- I bought the Santa’s Toyshop house, which came to $3, for my 6 year old. It said on the box…for 6 years old, 45 minutes. It took BOTH of us 3 hours to complete. It is difficult to manipulate the foam pieces to fit into the holes, BUT the finished product is really nice!!! Just wanted to warn anyone thinking about getting it, it requires adult assistance!

    • Julie

I bought something similar. I also struggled to help my 5 year old put it together. I like a good challenge, however we eventually gave up and put all the pieces back in the box 🙁

I used to be the classroom coordinator for Michael’s and my job was to put the examples on display. I was never a fan of these craft kids for the exact reason you mentioned. Adults end up doing most of the project!

We had the same experience with a Halloween themed one. We eventually gave up and ended up tossing it!

    • Lauren

Yes! I was going to mention that these 3D ones are time consuming- AND- even if you have patience may rattle you a bit ha ha- some of the pieces don’t want to sit the right way- BUT they look great when finished

We have SEVERAL of these crafts- I also got them at 70% off thankfully- but my daughter LOVES crafts so I get them every holiday

As a teacher, I get these sets every year when they go on this sale. The kiddos make cute ornaments with their picture/grade/year. As a side note, there were several posts asking about teacher gifts….pick up a few of these kits for super cheap and you have given your child’s teacher an awesome activity for either this year or next and you have come in way under budget! 😍

    • Amy

Do you mean give her one for every child? I guess I’m not understanding how a teacher would use such a thing in the classroom if you only gave a few.

      • Mom24girls+1boy

I think she is recommending the ornament craft sets that make 12 foam ornaments per kit. Depending on the size of your child’s class, you may only have to buy 2-3 kits. Great teacher gift idea! Plus, the kids probably love to do the project and will most likely be bringing them home as a Christmas present for their parents. It’s a gift that keeps on giving 😂.

Get a teacher a gift card to Michaels instead. I am tired of hearing everyone say…give them homemade, or teachers appreciate anything, or save money and buy teachers a bunch of junk. Do you know how much I spend on my students and classroom each year? At least a thousand dollars a year! While it is the thought that counts, giving teachers gift cards means they will buy what they need. If it is homemade, you do not know if I have to throw it away because of my allergies or because of my dietary needs. If you give me stuff to store, i am trying to declutter. Yes….you can never win…but a gift card is a safe bet because I will probably reinvest it in your child.

      • Lee

Patty I️ agree. As a classroom teacher I️ spend so much money on my classroom and any gift card would be greatly appreciated. It is the thought that counts, but some parents may not understand how much teachers spend each year. I️ would also encourage parents to ask the teachers about allergies and sensitivities. Many teachers are given candles and food and we are just unable to use them due to these issues.

I have got to get to Michael’s!

There is also a mailer that came in the post with an additional 25 % off sale. I used it today on the crafts.

Also the message about those big crafts sets, they are really useless. My kids would get extremely frustrated doing them, but these small sets to make snow men, different holiday scene etc are very good. Especially good when you are traveling. Keeps the kids occupied for ageeeeess!!

Just went today and saw some for $2.99 so I got them for $0.89!

      Sweet!

The micheal’s near me (Elmira NY) also had the Fujifilm instax 9 cameras for $59.99 and you get a free 10 count box of your choice of film.

I never really read these things unless i need advise. However Sad to hear giving up, difficult, on such an inexpensive way to spend a beautiful time being creative with my child. Yes some kits are different than others and can oppose a challenge however use the creative side to make another craft out of it. As a teacher i am very grateful for anything that comes my way. Not everyone can give as i know my list gets bigger and bigger each year and if i get a craft either made or to do is a blessing that someone had you in there thoughts and heart this year. Wish you all a Merry Christmas

My mom bought the snow globe style one for my daughter last year. It said 45 minutes for ages 6+. My daughter is very crafty, so I thought nothing of it. 4 hours and tweezers later, it was halfway finished. As soon as you would put one layer of the clear plastic globe up, something on the inside would fall down. It is VERY cute finished. But, did take almost an entire day to build. We enjoyed the time together as I had a newborn at the time and it was something special for just her.
