The new generation is on sale for $79 right now too!! It has a better speaker and is more compact. If it were me, I would spend the extra $10 and get a brand new the 2nd generation.
Great deal! Thanks for the reminder! https://hip2save.com/2017/12/09/amazon-echo-2nd-generation-just-79-99-shipped-regularly-100/
the new echo is not better, speaker is weaker than the old one. Check out the reviews. I returned my new one for old one.
Agreed, I have both and the 2nd gen speaker is definitely not as good as the 1st gen speaker.
These were on sale on QVC before Christmas for $79 with flex pay n free shipping. Scored 1 then.
Can somebody explain to me please what these are? I just do not get it. If you need to turn the music on, could you just do it yourself by pressing a button? Or if you need to know the forecast, can you not pull up an app on your phone?!? I must be missing something here, please please please tell me why I need to get one! Thank you! 🙂
Nobody *needs* one.
I like mine because it makes it easier to multitask with the voice activation.
But why are you trying to get people to convince you to buy things you don’t need or want? That’s a bit odd. If what you’re doing works well for you then keep doing it.
Karen, I am not wanting to buy one (Just like Nina in a comment below said), but rather want to hear why PEOPLE are getting it. If you had a friend who does not know what that is, how AS A USER, would you describe why you got one for yourself. Thank you
This is why I love echo. I use it to listen to my audio books, play music while I’m cleaning the house. I also use it to make phone calls. I like the timer features for cooking. My kids love asking the echo random stuff questions.
I don’t think it’s “odd” that she’s asking if this is something that will benefit her or be useful in her life in some way? She’s asking for information n thats what these boards are for, to get info and help each other.
Thank you for your comment, Nina! That’s exactly what I was trying to find out – THE WHY people are buying these things and WHY they like them 🙂
Google can help explains in details on what it does, but I’ll tell all what I use it for.
To turn off stuff (tv, light switches, and etc)
Play music wireless act as bluetooth speaker in kitchen or bedroom
Play games with the kiddos, skills aka features that you can enable.
Way too much stuff you can do with it.
Thanks for sharing how it has been useful for you! Good to know!
