      Oh perfect! You’re welcome Kristen!

Has anyone used this website? I just Googled it and the reviews are terrible. Lots of charging your card and then cancelling the order and lots of reviews saying it is the worst online company the reviewer has ever encountered. It is a good deal but kind of scared?

    • Heather

I bought this card through them last year and I didn’t have any issues at all. I am purchasing it again today. I hope this helps!!

    • Leticia

I also bought a similar deal through them last year and it was perfect. No bad experience at all.

I bought through Rakuten.com a year or two ago. The day after I bought, I got some charges on my credit card from another country. So I won’t buy from them again. However, I see a lot of people on here with no bad experiences.

Can be hit or miss. I placed an order there years ago, and passed the deal on to my friend. We both had fraudulent charges show up on our credit cards immediately afterward. I don’t think it was the company directly (my previous orders had no problems), but guessing their customer records got hacked. Either way, I just skip Rakuten deals now. Not worth the headache for me to save a few bucks.

Rakuten is a legit website, it used to be buy.com

For anything like this, you’ll disproportionately find the few people out of millions who have had bad experiences. And since Rakuten both sells products themselves as well as from third parties (the same way Amazon does), some complaints likely arise from that as well.

Thank you!! I was searching like crazy yesterday but everything was over $59.99, so I signed up for a 1 month free trial but will definitely cancel after my free trial.

      You’re so welcome Elizabeth!

Awesome Deal!!! Rakuten.com use to be buy.com. Great site. Have had no issues with any purchase made there.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’s great KitKat! Thanks for the positive feedback!

Just did the Gamestop deal yesterday of 6 months for 24.99, so wish I had known! LOL

I was leary with all the comments of not receiving items and charges on credit cards, but upon logging in , they take PayPal so I am ecstatic! Thanks so much!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Sweet! YW!

  6. Jenn

I’ve purchased gift cards and other items from Rakuten with no issues. They have great customer service! A coupon offer they emailed me wouldn’t work and they actually gave me a higher coupon for the trouble.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Good to know how helpful customer service is Jenn! Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

  7. Haydee

I just bought it using Paypal. It should be safe this way

    • Leticia

I used my PayPal account and if there is any trouble with the purchase they are terrific about handling those issues!

I purchased a great deal on two ikea knock off chairs for Christmas giftsfrom rakuten that were advertised here and highly praised. They kept my money for weeks before cancelling and refunding. I passed up similar deals in the meantime. Now when I see deals from them here I scroll on by.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Very sorry to hear about your experience Amanda 🙁 Thanks for sharing.

I got a one year membership for my nephew for free by using points from Microsoft rewards. I just use Bing as a search engine to get points and they offer quick quizzes, etc. for extra points. He hasn’t had to pay for a membership for 2 years now. I also got a game free for him to download at Christmas and a 1 year subscription to something else xbox – don’t remember what. No one else seems to have heard about Microsoft rewards but it’s a great deal with no strings attached.
