Seriously, the best car seats. We’ve had 3 across in a Honda Accord with no issues. Our boys have always loved them too!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

How cool! Glad to hear how well these seats have worked for your family! Thanks a bunch for taking a moment to comment!

      • Scarlelette

Im So glad to hear this. I have a Toyota Siena and have been looking for something slim that can fit 3 to a row.

  2. Innavation

Great price. We love our Radians

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Carolyn

I was able to keep my son rear facing until he was 4 with a diono (he is very big for his age), and we would have maybe been able to go to 5 if we could have configured it that way next to our younger son’s rear facing seat in our Elantra.

  4. Holly

Could ppl who own thwm answer some questions? They both seem very similar, Which one lasts longer for height and age/which do u prefer? Are they good for tall children? How many years are they useable before expiration?

    • KR

Rainier allows for rear and front facing longer

      • Jess

Yes, this, but any of them will last the average child far longer than most other seats. And, if your child is small they’ll last even longer. My small 8 year old still fits FF in the R100 (not pictured here but smaller than the 2 pictured.)

        • Mari

I read that 5 point buckles are what wear down, so still follow the expiration date even if your child can fit in the seats

          • Mari

That being said I rember our seat has a expiration date that is long enough to meet our state requirements for car seats and booster laws( I believe it’s age 7) and we bought our when our daughter was 1 hth

          • Pam

These actually last 10 years. Enough to last through one child.

            • KR

And the buckles and straps hold up so much better than Britax. We have two Britax and they’re a disaster. We are finally tossing and replacing with more Raniers. The older Raniers we have are still in perfect condition.

Also when kiddos fall asleep are they comfortable or do their heads droop forward?

    • vmm

that can depend on the vehicle’s seat shape as much as the car seat. With that said, I’ve had radians in about 4 different vehicles and never had a headslump issue. hope that helps!

    • vmm

and, my kids both slept a lot inthese seats…chose them over other seats we had for other cars. comfy for awake time and sleeping.

  6. Mandi

Have always wanted to get these for all of my 3 boys since these seats are reported to be very safe and designed like actual race car seats (would be an easy “sell” to get my little boys into the car!) but they are SOO expensive! Never in our budget though (even at 50% off-still $$$$) too bad good/better than required safety options are often cost prohibitive for people on a budget.

    • 50ShadesofLipstick

All car seats on the market meet the safety requirements established by the NHTSA. The more expensive ones are just slightly more comfortable or have a nicer design, but they do not have any extra safety features compared to a $50 car seat. What protects children from dying or being seriously injured in a car accident is a car seat that is appropriate for their height and weight and is buckled properly (ideally, 5 point harness and rear-facing as long as possible).

    • Kim

Thanks the recaro car seats which are racing seats, which have stricter standards. They are made overseas and have had rollover testing which isn’t required in America. And a few other tests which America does not do. The Diono are also a European seat but I’ve never heard of racing seats from them couldn’t find anything on google either.

      • 50ShadesofLipstick

In this country the NHTSA (among other agencies) sets the safety standards for car seats, so that is who the authority is. Btw, the very Recaro car seats that you are referring to underwent a recall not long ago. Plenty of the other pricey car seats have been recalled too. That just shows that no matter how expensive something is, that may not have an impact on its actual safety or quality. The safest seat is the one that you install securely and use correctly for your child.

    • Mari

I found in the long run these seats are cheaper because it’s the only seat you need. My first car seat was on clearance for 60$ (snugride35) then my daughter outgrew that one within 8 months… so when you add another car seat then booster seat, multiple seats can really add up….. I think the quality of our diono is really great and we’ve had our almost 5 years

      • nicole

Agreed. Most seats expire much faster than Dionos as well. Dionos have 10 years before expiring, I believe. Buying another brand, you’re likely to have to replace at least twice in that time frame.

  7. jos

Do these change to a no back booster?

    • Jess

No, the back doesn’t come off to be a LBB.

  8. sue

How wide is this car seat. It reads 16″x17″x28.5″ is it 16″ wide or deep? Thanks for any help.

    • Kel

17 wide, 16 deep for the RXT.

  9. Crystal

Thanks for posting, I needed a new car seat for my 2 year old, hes going to love this one!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

You’re very welcome Crystal! Happy you could score one for him with this sale!

  10. Charlotte's Mom

So many questions….how heavy are these seats? Would it be too heavy for my 5ft frame to install by myself? Does it use a latch system? How easy are they to clean? How are they compared to Chicco’s next fit (what we’re currently using) thinking of getting another NF for our youngest but have heard wonderful things about the Radians, too.

    • Mari

heavy has like a metal frame under it all…. but i dont ever move it. It does have a latch. Its easy to wipe off and I’ve had to wash it a few times for pee messes.

    • nicole

The main reason these seats get so much praise is the space they save. I have three across in my mid size suv with no problems. I’ve heard of people fitting three across in sedans. That said, they are very heavy. The seat part does fold up, making it slightly less awkward to move or transport. I have found that installing and uninstalling seems to be a lot easier than other car seats that I’ve previously had and the LATCH fasteners are really easy to use. They automatically lock when pushed in far enough and release quickly by pushing a button. The tether strap is very easy to loosen and tighten.

  11. Maori

These are great car seats. They are heavy, though. This is the best price I have seen in 5 years. About once a year amazon approaches $199 but that’s about the best you can hope for!

  12. Toni

This post could not have come at a better time! I’ve been eyeing the radians on albee baby for their sale price of $255 that ends on 01/31. I ALMOST bought all three seats that I need earlier today and then my sister sent me this post on the sale. Talk about perfect timing, and what a deal! Thanks H2S!!!

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Woohoo!! Love it when things work out that way. You’re very welcome!

  13. carB

Fyi there is no free shipping on this item. I bought 2 car seats and had to pay $20 in shipping.

  14. J

To the posters who already own & commented: be aware that most Diono convertibles were recalled in October 2017 (in case you originally missed like we did!!!), including the Radian RXT (if manufactured prior to Oct 2017). 2018 Diono Radian RXT models are NOT affected, but note they have revised (lower) weight limits and other modifications. More recall details here: https://us.diono.com/safety-notices/ AND here: https://carseatblog.com/14805/diono-radian-rxt/
