This is great! Was looking at a new washing machine last weekend. I’ll do my research before I choose one!
PERFECT! You’re so welcome!
Although I’m not purchasing anything big at the moment have a few items on my radar this year, ended up ‘printing’ each category but instead saved as a PDF on my laptop so I can reference back when the time comes. Thank you!
Great that you can set it aside for future reference Erica! You’re most welcome!
I’m just curious how you saved as a pdf. Did you save each page or is there a place to save everything as one?
Susan, when you go to print, choose save as pdf instead of print, then choose a folder to put pdf in.
Thanks for the tip Erica, I learned something new today!
From looking at the reviews their recommendations are not very good. A lot of people didn’t like the ones that they said were good. And who can afford a $1000 mattress. Thank god the Serta and Sealy ones we buy last 10 years. I still don’t understand why they don’t make them where you can turn them over and over again instead of just vertically now.
In the midst of car shopping. Was surprised by ratings and will ask some more “informed” questions now. Thanks for the heads-up!
This is my favorite for car safety reviews if you’re interested. I’ve actually been here and seen their testing procedures. Obviously it doesn’t take into consideration fuel efficiency, comfort, etc., but they thoroughly test safety.

Thanks!
I research every ‘major’ purchase and never been disappointed when I follow their recommendations!
Broke my boss’s coffee pot, off to find a good, inexpensive one!
I would replace with the exact same one, if possible or better. I gave my neighbor a name brand item and she bought me generic. I was very put-off by that.
Good advice and I think I would do the same. My friend who broke my name brand coffee pot didn’t replace it at all and just complained that it was probably cheap. Some friend, lol. No more coffee invites for him!
My friend did the same thing lol. Well really it was a “Friend” that they brought with them, that was acting crazy and fell into my lamp…. it broke into a million pieces. I was heated Lol. I’m all about fun as long as it doesn’t break my stuff 😉 . That person kept saying they was going to find a similar lamp for me or give me money and that Never happened!!
I research most purchases, and never been disappointed with their recommendations. Of course, I also take into consideration my family’s needs and budget.
Now, off to find a new coffee pot….broke my boss’s!!! 😳
Thanks so much. Checked our new fridge out before paying for it today. Gave me peace of mind.
Great! So comforting to make a big purchase with confidence! You’re very welcome!
I love Consumer Reports. I always consult them before any major purchases., using both online and magazine subscriptions over the years. A lot of their recommendations can be pricey, but I usually opt for what they call a “CR Best Buy” meaning you get a good product for your money. Also, if you are on a budget and you need them for future reference, most libraries carry these.
Thank you! We love Consumer Reports!
You’re welcome Sarah!
I paid for this for several years but stopped because I felt their reviews weren’t up to the quality of where they used to be. I stopped trusting their opinion.
We love consumer reports when purchasing anything pricey we always refer to this magazine has saved us thousands not to mention any hassles a bad product could be
I get free access to Consumer Reports through my online account at my local library or they have the magazines in the library.
A
I signed uop for their emails! I’m cheap 😉 Nothing big to purchase in the next few yrs. I am disappointed though – regarding their rating of Tide – which, to me, transaltes to a cos uple of other brands. It may do the work and cost less than others – HOWEVER, they don’t give instructions as to how to use it in regular machines – VERY SMALL AMOUNT, PLUS, the concentrated Tide is VERY harsh on fabrics – they say it’s safe on delicates? Not really, do your OWN TESTING! And you’ll see. And, if you ever use Tide with Oxy – beware – only use on your whites – although it’s NOT bleach – it performs as if it has bleaching action.
I stopped trusting Consumer Reports when they shut down the Consumerist site with no warning to their readers or to their writers. The statement on the Consumerist Facebook page wasn’t written by anyone that worked at Consumerist.
I was able to access the site but however I don’t understand can you access it every day or just temporarily for a few days? I’m not sure how this is supposed to work can someone please explain it to me. Is there a way to access it for a long time.?
Right now free access is temporary. Normally you have to pay a subscription access fee for it.
I used to get the mag as a paid subscription and decided to try a preview issue recently to see if I wanted to subscribe again. They sent the January issue and the auto tire reviews, which I am in the market for, only had a few brands to compare, so it wasn’t that helpful. I’ve found better luck researching on my own, again since I wanted to compare many brands. They do have good articles besides the reviews, and I will take a look at the free online content so thanks!
Am I doing something wrong, when I click on car buying tips/ guides nothing happens. Any insight?
Hmm, are you using a mobile device? If so, maybe switch over to desktop view as sometimes that can help when having issues. Hoping it works for you soon!
I just get a page asking me to pay! Waste of my time!
Bummer! Looks like this offer has ended 🙁
I paid for a 2 year subscription for both online and the ones that they send you I received the one from last year But have not received anything since that o e time magazine and tv guide looking thing . It was a promotion which was usually 55 for 1 year. Regardless I am pretty upset and and about 24 hours from doing a claim on my credit card for the money back .
