I’ve been contemplating getting this for my daughter who starts kindergarten this year – anyone have any comments on how good it is?

There is a free website abcya.com that is just about the same as abc mouse. My 5 yr old loves it and plays daily.

      • Amanda

Thanks Laura, I’ll definitely check that website out!

    • RubysMom

My daughter was begging for ABC Mouse because of commercials she saw. She is 5 and in Kindergarten. If you go on Groupon, they have a free 2-month trial. Just be sure to cancel before the trial period ends if you don’t want to continue. I canceled it after seeing it didn’t hold her interest but they will offer you all sorts of discounts as you are clicking through to cancel.
Also, you still get the free trial for the remainder of the time period even if you cancel early.

We homeschool our little ones and this was definitely not worth our time. It takes a lot of parent interaction and my kids didn’t like it.

      • Amanda

Thanks Rubysmom, that’s really helpful feedback!

      • Amanda

Thanks Jessi, I appreciate your honesty!

I got abc mouse to supplement my homeschooled preschooler because I just had a new baby and he is learning SO much from this!! He begs me all the time to play abc mouse so I know he is enjoying it. I definitely recommend it and this price is amazing!

My barely four year old and six year old love abc mouse. They also use abcya.com and starfall.com which are free but a bit harder for my four year to work, my son needs what to do because he uses it at school. I like abc mouse better, I feel it has more “meat” and I can direct them more with parent control without inferring. Also abc mouse can be played on our tablets (iPad and kindle) our phones (iPhone) and the home computer which makes them feel like big kids

      • Sarah

Also you can have three kids on the account. I was able to add my niece. Just needed email consent from her parents.

    Thank you!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welcome Liz!

  3. CO Mama

We love Starfall.com it’s a non-profit very similar content to ABC Mouse but much cheaper & 100% tax deductible. Might be worth a look.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Thanks for the suggestion! My kiddos have enjoyed that one as well!

      • APS

My kids are now 7 and 9 but when they were little we loved Starfall!

Amazon underground for android users I cancelled abc mouse and amazon free time there are a ton of educational free apps that are usually not free when purchased thru the App Store but no charge on amazon underground you pick what you want and add content to your child’s profile and done ( all content on amazon underground is not educational and there are different ages so you will have to look thru to see what suites your child ) you go to your App Store type in amazon underground and all the games will show up

  5. Shelly

My son is 4 and he LOVES abc mouse. At first I wasn’t sure about it but once I realized how much he is learning from it I was blown away. Might not be suited for all kids but it’s definitely worth trying out. Sometime I do have to help him with the activities but I don’t mind at all!

  6. Em

Can abc mouse be used on a tablet or does it have to be on a desktop computer? We live in a rural area and use our tablet through cellular mostly so I just wanted to check.

    • Shelly

My son does the app on his amazon fire tablet

      • Em

        Thank you!

  7. Niki

I will not support the cult of Scientology via my child, there are plenty of apps out there via amazon underground or on the play store that are the same thing.

  8. Martha

Just as a heads up and use your own discretion: ABCMouse is run by Scientologists and your money will be going to Scientology.

    • Jessi

Yikes, I didn’t realize this. Thanks for the heads up!

    • Katie

Can anyone post a source to prove this? We didn’t like abc mouse at all! Not even worth $3.75 a month. Maybe that’s why!!

    • Em

Thanks for posting this! I had no idea! A quick google search confirms what you said, so thanks again!

  9. Amy

As a teacher and momma of two, I am always looking for fun educational games for their tablets. After seeing commercials, receiving numerous emails, I caved and bought it. Our five year old found herself getting very frustrated, as she couldn’t do it by herself. Works best if both parent and child do it together, and even then it lost her interested. Recently removed it from her tablet and currently looking for other educational games.

    • Jessi

Check out the apps by Duck, Duck Moose. Educational and free!

  10. Nina

Oh my gosh had No idea about the people running this site. Definitely thanks for the heads up and will avoid at all cost.

  11. Nina

    Abcya.com says it’s a paid membership.

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

Oh wow! I actually have signed up two different times over the years for my kids and never had any issues at all with cancelling the subscription. It was super easy to do.

  12. Vanessa

    Any great free apps?

  13. Yvette Harvey

Dies anyone have any experience with this who has a child with autism?

    • Yvette Harvey

      *does dang auto correct -_-

  14. Monica

Purchased for my 5 year old son. He was very excited, but quickly lost interest. 😣

Starfall is a free site to check out

  15. Vera

My daughter is 5 years old, in the firs week she liked ABCmouse. We kept the membership for three moths thinking maybe she may ask again. Cancelled without any problem.
