Amazon Plants Store Open for Business

Shop for plants without leaving home!

Head over to Amazon where they have recently launched their Plants Store featuring succulents, shrubs, annuals, perennials and so much more!

While these prices may not be as inexpensive as Home Depot or Walmart, the Amazon Plants Store offers the option to order plants from the comfort of your home. I also love that you could choose to ship one of these plants to a friend or loved one as an alternative to using a florist.

As a just one idea, this Brussel’s Hawaiian Umbrella Tree Bonsai is only $28.80 when you clip the 20% off coupon (regularly $36) – best price! Plus, shipping is free for Amazon Prime members (you can sign up for a FREE 30-day trial here).

Have you ordered from the Amazon Plants Store?

(Thanks, Passionate Penny Pincher!)

Be interesting to see how this turns out. 🤔

My husband loves his plants and I love flowers so every year our yard is filled with a little bit of everything. This would make a great gift for his bday or Father’s Day thanks for this post ladies.

What a sweet gift idea! You’re so welcome!

free shipping isn’t working on this???

    • Angie (Sweet Sidekick)

Darn! It appears that the free shipping is only working for Amazon Prime members. I updated the post.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I am definitely an Amazon head but I hate taking even more business away from the smaller stores. I feel like Amazon is eclipsing absolutley everything. We already lost 1 Agway in our town. This has the potential to harm even more garden shops which are already struggling.
Of course that’s just my opinion.

    • Elle

My exact thoughts too. I would rather support a local plant nursery.

    • Melissaan

I have mixed feelings as well. I love ordering from Amazon and do so several times a week. But I do worry about the local businesses impacted.

    • Laura

I agree! And when our towns turn into ghost towns because businesses close? Sad. I hate that Amazon is getting so big.

      • Crystal

I agree as well. I enjoy Amazon but feel the are dominating too many areas putting local businesses to close.

    • Molly

Yes, while I love Amazon for things I would normally get from a big box retailer, this, combined with a few of their other business expansions have me wondering when they are going to start calling themselves the “Umbrella Corporation”!

    • Sa

And Once they knock out the competition in every sector, theyll be able to charge whatever they want. Brilliant!

    • Mika

I came here to say this and I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who feels this way. They’re getting way too big and I’m starting to worry. I won’t be supporting them in this department.

  6. Jill

Wow there taking over lol. I love it how cool.

They are moving into the medical industry. Lots of fat there. seems like a good move. But, it is sad that it is taking out the smaller stores. less jobs needed. less overhead. next, they’ll have online doctors to diagnose your condition and medicine and hardware to treat you.

Big hospitals have telehealth doctors to diagnose and treat, we can only assume that it will be part of Amazon’s goal when they actually begin the pharmaceutical aspect of the business.

  9. IB

Amazon will eventually be in every part of our loves. They are getting into prescription drugs soon.

  10. Ashley

I could see myself using this feature in a pinch but I love our local nurseries!

  11. Workaholic

This is great for gifting to friends in a other state /city but I’ll be shopping locally for my own plants.

  12. Sandy

I feel like Amazon always sold plants in the past. Is there any difference than what they did before?

  13. Tolu

Amazon is gradually taking over the world. I feel sorry for businesses.

  14. LC

    what a cool idea!

  15. Susan Crawford

I use Amazon occasionally, but for my plants, garden in May. I will go local. Sorry Amazon, I prefer to pick out my tomato and other plants.

  16. Jjenelle

I love Amazon and purchase items on the regular but I would rather pick out my plants and shop locally.

  17. Maori

I agree that it would be so sad if local nurseries went out of business. Where would we go when we just want to “smell the roses” ? Purchasing a plant is such a tactile and sensory thing, we have to keep them local. 😀 Keep in mind this post is sponsored, Hip2Save profits from sending our business to amazon. 😉

If I could get 60 bags of mulch through my Amazon prime free shipping, I’d be all over it! I’m sure my mailman would hate me even more than he already does though…

  19. Rochelle

Not being a very good green thumb, I prefer to shop locally so that I know I will buy something that will thrive in my area, not to mention help me diagnose and address problems that come up.

  20. DJ

They are providing a service, but what does that mean for those stores that specializes in flower or plant deliveries for special occasions. I do think Amazon is getting too big.

  21. dealzgurl

This actually reminds me that I need to stop by a local nursery to look for shrubs. Hopefully, that’s something I can buy there. I’m a cut the grass and I’m good kind of girl but this year I want to do something different. I like the points that everyone is making…I think I’ll purpose to support local businesses more (except Walmart) wherever I can to keep the dollars local. I’ve always thought that Facebook and Amazon were getting wayyy too big for their britches…this new foray into selling plants is just another example of how Amazon is trying to rule the world. Not cute.

  22. cookieboots

For the price of some of the single plants listed, I could do my whole deck with nursery plants. They would start out smaller, but grow as the season went on. That’s part of the fun for me- watching for discovery of new flowers and plant growth.

  23. yomac

Cool! I need lots of succulents to make table arrangements for a birthday party.

  24. Amie

    interesting

  25. Kelly K.

Holy Moly! So cool. I was wondering if or when they would do something like this. I wonder how shipping works.

  26. Mia

Unfortunately, all the local garden centers in my area are attached to box stores. However, there are still some smaller nurseries with an online presence–like Steve’s Leaves out of Dallas–you don’t have to resort to Amazon!!

  27. Emily

Next we will be ordering puppies and kittens…

  28. Mizz Mo

I ordered succulents when there as a special posted and they arrived in amazing shape! Much better quality than the local Home Depot and better prices.
