We bought the Sidewinder,it lasted us 8+ years! It was worth every penny! Grandkids out grew it.
That’ s great to know that it lasted so long! 8+ Years is a great run!
How do you dry it, so it does not get moldy without killing the grass below it? I would love to get one, but everyone’s I’ve seen gets moldy. Does anyone have a solution?
There’s no reason it should get moldy if you let the water drain out the plug in the bottom. It does take some effort to lift up the sides in order to direct the water to the drain, so it’s tempting to step on the bumper and let the water out that way. However, that lets water in the seams where the air is and is really hard to get the water out of there once it’s in. We do live in a dry climate, but we’re on our third year of owning this and it’s going strong!
We live in Florida and we put a tarp under ours, then blow it up. When the kids are done playing with it we just turn the blower off and let the whole thing deflate. We leave it outside to dry off and it’s pretty much completely dry in an hour or so. Then I go out there and wipe it down with a towel, flip it over and dry the under side. We’ve had ours a year and no mold issues yet
We got one one during a sale around this time last year and we used it almost every weekend last summer. The kids absolutely loved it. When we got done we emptied it out which gave our yard a nice deep water and then we blew it back up empty and would leave it a while until it dried then folded it up and put it in a sterilite container. We haven’t had any mold issues thus far. Super easy and totally worth the money. The kids are already asking for it to come out again this year!
Does anyone have this? I have a 4 & 2 year old, would this be too much for them at this age?
My kids were 2 and 4 last year when I bought this and it was PERFECt for them! My 2yr old wasn’t a fan of the spraying but would play around it. My 4yr old loved the slide!
My son is a stocky 9yo but he is younger cousins to play with …is he to big for this
It says it’s for ages 5 – 12 so that should be just fine for him.
My husband is 6ft , 200 lbs and would go down ours head first all the time. It would lean a bit when he climbed up, but the kids loved it when we would join them. I think your son would love it.
I’m 5’6″ and 125lbs and have used the slide the past few years with my son without any problems. I bet he would love it! 🙂
I just bought this for my 7 and 2 year old yesterday. Figured it would be great on hot days when we can’t get to the pool. They’re going to be so excited.
😊
Oh yes! I bet they will have a blast! Happy you could snag it for them Kim!
I have this. I have 5 kids. I do NOT recommend this. It is heavy, takes up lots of space to store when not in use, takes TONS of water, the motor is loud, you cannot just fill and let the water warm up then play because the motor has to be on or it will not hold water. It takes a long time to dry so it will not mold to put away.
Have had it for 2 years and the kids 5&8 love it. In fact people are always asking us to give them a call when we blow it up because their kids love it!
How fun!
That’s why I DONT want one lol.
These slides are fantastic. We had them when my children were young and we use them at a camp I work at in the summer for “splash day”. They are tough to get dry and will destroy your grass. We find if you flip it over and move it every few hours it speeds up drying and saves your grass. Well worth the money.
This is great for the grandparents house. It can be a process to set up, dry off, and put away . . but the grandkids go crazy. . . love it. . . and my parents have something fun to do on a hot a summer day. The 8-9 year old boys can’t wrestle on it . . but it is pretty sturdy. Great buy in opinion
We have this same one. Got it last year after it was posted on hip2save. Get it! Our kids love it. Yeah, it’s a pain to lug it out, put it away and yup it wastes a lot of water and yeah you’ll have dead grass in the exact spot where you keep it. But the kids just absolutely love it! My advice…let it dry before putting it away. We just turn off water and still let kids use it to play. And every month or so during use give it a good bleaching or use the mildew spray before you put it away just to make sure it stays clean.
Has anyone ever had any trouble with grass growing through this? This happened to the last inflatable I bought which was so weird.
We had one of these for 2yrs and the kids loved it. The seams started splitting last year though causing it to not hold air well anymore so we had to throw it out. Was definitely worth the price for us
