Any reviews. Hardshell vs softshell?
I have this set and LOVE it. I travel by air several times a year and it has held up well. I prefer the hard shell because I tend to overpack and this helps me not to do that (impossible to overstuff like a soft sided suitcase).
You have the samsonite ?
I have the Samsonite ziplite in 28in and love it, it has held up very well so far, although I have not flown with it as of yet. It’s very light weight yet durable, and I love the color choices.

I will said take only 2, since its only 3 days. It will be good to be weather aware, so you know what kind of clothing to pack. You can share with your husband and your children can share as well (hopefully they are small to share). The children can carry a backpack with personal items and perhaps a pair of shoes.
I really do love our hard shell set I bought a couple months ago. Hard shell can keep you more organized and the cases are typically lightweight. One HUGE downside is you need a big area to open them. They do not typically fit well on a luggage rack at a hotel because you need both sides fully open. Do you end up using the bed and desk in the room. Kind of a pain. They are very durable though.
Is it truly hard? Will it bend easily?
It’s not hard, it’s polycarbonate which will bend slightly but it won’t crack. Hard cases are easier to clean and more water resistant than soft sided ones.
