Kohl’s is revamping their Rewards Program!

Kohl’s Rewards is moving away from Yes2You Rewards points and soon only offering Kohl’s Cash for your purchases. That means you won’t have to keep track of your rewards points any longer. And don’t worry – all Yes2You Rewards points will convert to Kohl’s Cash with the launch of the new program!

Please note that this new Rewards Program will ONLY be launching for eligible customers in select Pilot Markets (currently appears to be Austin, San Antonio, Los Angeles and Chicago) on May 21st, with an official launch for all customers in those select markets on May 25th.

If you’re a Yes2You Rewards Member or if you’re a Kohl’s Charge customer and reside in a Pilot Market, you’ll be automatically enrolled and will receive a confirmation email by the end of May.

Kohl’s Rewards Perks:

  • Earn 5% Kohl’s Cash every day on every purchase OR 10% with a Kohl’s Charge
  • Kohl’s Cash is tracked for you – just use it during the redemption period
  • Enjoy 30%, 20% or 15% off during Members-only savings events
  • Bonus gift on your birthday 🎉
  • Easy returns — no receipt needed

AND, if you’re an Elite Member (which means you spend $600+ in the year with a Kohl’s Charge), you’ll get the following bonus perks:

  • FREE standard shipping every day on every purchase with your Kohl’s Charge
  • Early access to Black Friday
  • Expedited Customer Service phone support

    Sounds good to me !!

  2. Suzanne H

I love that Elite members will always get free shipping!!! I hate having Kohl’s cash b/c it is almost always good during a period without a free shipping promo code. I hate paying for shipping but going to the store is a hassle and I don’t always have time.

    • Krista

      Yes! Same.

    • tctbtob

      I agree

    • Nicole

      Me too! It’s so annoying!!

  3. Emily

Free shipping on any order! YES! I’m ready, sign me up Kohls!

  4. Queenjen87

I like it. That way I’ll always have free shipping when I have kohls cash 🙂

  5. Melissa

Sounds even better. I love free shipping!

  6. Charlotte's Mom

I wonder if the Kohl’s Cash will still have an expiration date? Use it or lose it or can it be rolled over to the next redemption date? Realllllly considering opening a Kohl’s charge now for the free everyday shipping… although not sure I spend $600+ there annually to make it to Elite level.

    • Alicia

I’m guessing they’ll still issue the Kohl’s cash when you hot certain increments, just like the rewards, and it will expire like Kohl’s cash after it’s issued.

  7. Jenn

I live in Phoenix and received an email that my Kohl’s rewards are changing and I have elite status, so it sounds like it might be in more markets.

    • hudsonbelle

I’m in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and I received an email that my Kohl’s rewards are changing too.

  8. Hippy

Just don’t buy anything you have to take back if you paid with kohls cash.

    • Monica

My store gives me store credit on a gift card if I have a return on something I used Kohls cash to buy. No loss.

      • Hippy

I only get a gc on the actual money I paid, less the kohls cash. So if I made a 25.00 purchase and I used 20. in Kohl’s cash I only get a 5.00 gift card. Basically I lose the 20.00 Kohl’s cash.

        • Briana

They give kohls cash refund in kohls cash. you won’t lose it.

        • Joshua Bergner

That’s not how the return policy works. Any Kohl’s cash you use towards your purchase, you get back in the form of Kohl’s cash. You only receive a merchandise credit card if you paid with a merchandise card or if you are making a return without a receipt and a lookup cannot be performed. If you paid with a debit card you have the option to get it back on that same card or you can opt to get the refund in cash. If you paid with a credit card it would be returned to that card. Now let’s say you made a purchase that was $80 and received $10 in Kohl’s. If you redeem that Kohl’s cash but end up returning some the original items that you purchased to receive said Kohl’s cash, it will be taken off your return total.

          • Hippy

Thank you for this information. I will check next time I use Kohl’s cash and make a return. I always use my Kohl’s cc so always have a receipt.

        • Beth

My store used to do the same thing, but I don’t think they are supposed to. I reported it to corporate once I found out what the corporate policy was and they don’t seem to do that anymore 😉.

    • Katie

My store gives you a refund in blue Kohl’s Cash that is good for 30 or so days if your original payment was the regular Kohl’s Cash.

      • Rosa

Same here, the part I paid with Kohls cash , I get back as blue Kohls cash that is good for 30 days.

    • Margie

I have also lost Kohl’s cash used on purchases when I’ve had to return the items.

      • Beth

I get what you’re saying. If you spend $100 and earn $20 Kohls cash and spend that the. Need to return something from the original $100 you spent they take the Kohls cash off of that. Like return a $60 comforter they will only give you $40 because they’ll take the $20 Kohls cash off.

  9. Laura

I think I am likely in the Chicago market. What happens to my existing Yes2You points that I was anticipating to apply next month?

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

They will convert to Kohl’s Cash with the launch of the new program!

  10. Banklady

I live in Pittsburgh received new charge card outlining new rewards seems like it’s an interesting improvement.

  11. Momof5

Got my new charge card today. I am not sure I will like this new program as I always forget to spend Kohls cash before it expires. With Yes program I always got lots of reminders about expiration date.

    • Joshua Bergner

Download the Kohl’s app and you could set it up to send you the same reminders for Kohl’s Cash as you get for the Y2Y Rewards.

  12. Shannon

Sounds great! I barely ever get kohls cash due to making multiple orders. I’m a mvc card holder so go figure! Bring on the changes.

    • jen-CT

You can combine receipts at customer service if you ask them really nicely… and they’ll issue the kohls cash if the dates and thresholds are met. Just do before the end of the kohls cash earning period.

      • Shannon

I used to do that and they are always nice and give it to me but I don’t always have time to go there anymore because the store is far now that I moved.

  13. Happy Aunt

I’m hopeful that this will be a good thing. I’ve been highly disappointed with the growth of the exclusion list that we can no longer obtain the extra % off with. The few exclusions is what I liked best and caused me to always choose Kohls over Bon Ton Stores (and we all know how they are doing…hope Kohls is taking notice!)

    • Sandy

The exclusion list has grown and does make me hesitate to even purchase from Kohls and I have always LUVED Kohls! I have definitely slowed my shopping.

    • Lydia

The exclusion list is not Kohl’s doing, it’s the brands themselves. You can’t use coupons on brands like Nike, UA, Adiddas, Levi, Columbia, etc at other stores either. The stores can put them on sale, but can’t accept coupons on them. For some reason though, you CAN use Kohl’s cash to purchase brands that are excluded from coupons.

  14. Christina

Free shipping on every order! How exciting!

  15. Jane

I like the idea of this! So with the 5% back (or 10% with Kohl’s card), unlike Yes2you where you had to meet the $100 threshold to earn $5, is it just 5% or 10% back in Kohl’s cash rolling. So, say I only spent $20, would I get $1 back in Kohl’s cash?

    • Alicia

I’m sure they’ll still issue it in $5 increments or more

      • Jane

Great Thought! I’m just interested in seeing whether it’ll be issued monnthly like Yes2you, or every time you reach a certain amount like $5, or $10… We’ll see I guess 🙂

  16. tracy

I have noticed a significant reduction in the quality of Kohls’ clothing in the last couple years. Shirts are shorter after washing, even when I air dry them. Socks are too small and become “pilly” after one wash. I bought a nightgown this year and it looked 10 years old when it came out of the dryer. I really don’t want to buy anything from them online anymore and they used to be my fave store.

    • Shannon

You have to watch which brands you buy. Some are cheaper than others. I never buy the jumping beans brand because of that reason. Carters is great tho for kids stuff.

  17. Laura DealSeeker

Honestly I’ve never cared for Kohl’s much. They only offer free shipping if you have a Kohl’s credit card. Not everyone wants to have multiple credit card responsibilities. Whereas Target they offer a checking account redcard. I think more stores should offer that.

    • Sarah

I agree. I rarely shop kohl’s because the deals are only good if you’re a cardholder. And between their sales and promo codes and kohl’s cash…I shouldn’t have to work that hard to buy something at a reasonable price.

      • *Angela-Miles*

Yes my thoughts also!! Haven’t been to Kohl’s in years.

  18. Jen

My mom is in Phoenix and got an email
    about this. I’m totally jealous!

  19. Amy

These are great changes. Especially the free shipping

    • Kristi

With the current program, all Kohl’s cardholders got free shipping. Now you have to spend $600+ per year. It’s great for Kohl’s, not great for the customer.

      • Tracy S

Kristi, I’m a cardholder, but don’t get free shipping. Card holders need to meet a certain threshold. Elite members, in this new program, do not.

  20. TiredofBeingRippedOff

Sadly I’ve never seen a program revamp that didn’t take more money or earned rewards out of the customer’s pocket (JCP, Landry’s Select, Disney..). Used to love Kohl’s but they’ve become disappointing in recent years.

    • Sandy

      Totally agree!

  21. Strongwoman

I love the free shipping for elite members. This is similar to Belks.

  22. apwade21

Awesome!!! I love Kohls sounds like a good new program!!!

  23. Beth

That is a lot less Kohls cash than the current program. The current program works out to be 20%, the new one only 10%. Am I missing something?

    • Monica

It is not replacing Kohls cash. It is replacing yes2you rewards which are currently 5%.

      • Michelle

I’m wondering if this isn’t replacing Kohl’s cash… I have a feeling this new program is NOT in the customer’s favor… anytime a store “revamps” a program it means they need a new way to give us less…

    • Jen

I thought the same thing. We go from getting $5 for every $100 spent, with a month to redeem, and earning $10 for every $50 spent (20%) to just getting 10% of what we spend. Doesn’t seem like a better deal at all. The only way this would work in our favor is if they continue to run the $10 for every $50 spent. Hopefully they do…

  24. Candie

Agree quality has gone down. Also now to even exchange you have to exchange for the exact same item and just get a different size. You used to be able to exchange for an item with the same price on tag.

  25. Kristine

I live in Indiana and received my new card in mail today. I’m an existing charge card holder. Didn’t expect a new Kohl’s charge card. They sent a promo $10 Kohl’s cash that is valid for one week. But also received a couple other promo savings coupons as well.

  26. KR

So, no more free shipping ever for non-elite members?

  27. M

I think the move away from Y2Y Rewards in part is due at least in part to the fact that the program requires an email address which would exclude certain segments of the customer base.

    • MJ

It also aligns with Kohls’ push to increase online sales to offer free shipping to their best customers.

    • Michelle

You don’t have to have an email you can use your phone number as well… hth

  28. Becca

I only shop Kohls when I get a 40% mystery code and free shipping. Everything is so marked up. Haven’t been inside a store in years.

  29. Kristi

Looks like I got rid of my Kohl’s charge card just in time! I only got it to use the free shipping offer but after receiving the wrong order three times in a row, I decided it wasn’t worth having. I actually dropped one of the items off at my local Kohl’s store after processing the return through online chat. They still charged me for the wrong item despite returning it to the store. I called customer service to have the charges dropped and was yelled at by a man in a foreign country. Their customer service has really gone downhill and now their rewards program will follow. Spending $600+ per year for the free shipping offer is not ideal for most of their customers.

  30. Gina M

Basically they are taking away everything they offered to get points for liking social media, sharing points etc. and you can’t never see any coupons $10 off $30. It just benefits Kohl’s not customers.

  31. Glory

Here is an idea, how about offering the Kohl’s catd members 30% off and free shipping ALWAYS.

  32. Donna

Just really annoyed it’s only in a few, select areas. Way to alienate the rest of us solid, loyal, long- time members, Kohls! Ugh! I want in on it, too!
