I’m thinking of getting this. I use my slow cooker alot and this does so much more. Can anyone tell me how they like it if they have one?
Thanks
Buy one…I’ve had it for three years and love it! As a mom I tend to forget to take things out of the freezer to cook…not any longer. I can put frozen chicken beef whatever in with seasoning and one to two cups of liquid and dinner is ready in less than an hour….
I love mine as well and use it at least once a week. It makes the best rice so I got to eliminate my old rice maker. It’s very versatile and I don’t think you would regret buying it.
I live in the country and when I was working I was always gone longer than 8 hours, so my crockpot food was always over cooked.. I never have that problem with my 8 qt instant pot.
8 qt let’s you double or triple recipes, too! Join a Facebook group to help figure things out and get you more comfortable using it.
Definitely buy it!! I use mine about 6 times a week. I have more than 1 pot Since I also do side dishes. There is a Facebook group that gives you tips and recipes.
i used to love my slow cooker until I got one of these, it can literally cook anything you cook on a slow cooker for a fraction of the time, its comes in handy for when you really want tender meat or pork and only have 45 min to make dinner. I however have the bella brand which is cheaper and works as good as this one (my fnd has a instapot) and honestly you can’t tell the difference.
Got one!! Yayyy I am so happy!
Woohoo! Super glad you could score one!!
Got one thanks!!!! I have been waiting for this to go on sale for something to use the AmEx $30 off promo. (Some cards have a promo of $30 off a $60 Amazon purchase of you use points to pay. You only have to use 1 point and it will show up. But you have to load it to your card first).
Oh neat! You’re welcome Vanessa! Thanks for the tip!
I have been watching the price on this for 6 months. Ours arrives on Tuesday! Woo hoo!
Yay! I hope you enjoy yours!
I want one so bad!!!! What are your guys thoughts on Amazon prime day? I’m thinking surely they’ll have deals on the instapot. To wait or not to wait?? 🧐
We aren’t sure what they will have on Prime Day, but I will say that it is RARE to find a deal on the 8 qt one.
I’ve been wanting one of these. Finally took the plunge!
Me too! So glad you scored one!
I’ve had mine for 2 weeks and I’ve used it every single day! I’ve done sweet potatoes, boiled eggs (easiest peel EVER!), spaghetti (3 minutes!) boxed macaroni and cheese, frozen ground beef, pork sausage, chili, etc in it. There isn’t anything it can’t do!
So awesome!
I didn’t get it when they had it as a deal at the end of last year sometime. I mentioned it to my husband. He’s in Italy right now for work. But usually when he doesn’t comment back, that means he doesn’t think we should get it. I want it so bad!
8 qt seems huge. We probably wouldn’t do leftovers too much. Is this too big for a family of 4?
It is really big…I have a family of 4 as well, and the 6 qt. is seriously perfect for us. When we do have leftovers, it’s only a portion or two and not something we’d be eating for a week afterwards. A bigger IP takes longer to come to pressure plus accessories for the 8 qt are harder to find than for the 6 qt. Hope that helps.
I think the 6 qt is on sale at Target this week for maybe $10-20 cheaper than the 8 qt.
thanks for the replies……I did go ahead and buy the 8 qt researching more info online. It isn’t a ton larger than the 6 qt dimension wise and offers a little more flexibility for us, we decided. A good point about longer to take to pressure. Another good point I found elsewhere is that you obviously cannot fill it 8 qts full of stuff/water for various recipes. You must allow some dead space for boiling etc. (For others reading this thread).
According to the Instant Pot user manual, the inner pot should never be filled above the “MAX” line, and for pressure cooking should be filled only 2/3 full (1/2 for rice, beans, or other foods that expand significantly when cooked). So no, you won’t be able to make 8 qts worth of something at once 🙂
Hi, I have a family of 4 and currently have had the older model 6 quart for 2 years. I think it depends what you’ll use the pot for. If it’s soups, chili, rice, meat, a 6 quart is plenty. However, I make a lot of dishes with bone-in meat to get the flavor out of the bone and will fill the 6 quart almost all the way to the top. In those instances, I wish I had the 8 quart. HTH!
Is this too big for two adults?
Thanks! I have been waiting for a sale on these and finally ordered one!
I ended up getting one! I can’t wait to use it!!!
Yay! I hope you enjoy it!
Saw it at Kroger for $59.99
Wow, that’s an amazing price for the 8 quart!
Is this a better deal than the Black Friday deal at Kohl’s?
We are only 3 adults at home. Will 8qt be too big and too much? But the price is tempting! I would have taken 6qt but it’s not on sale. Is this a great deal already? Your input is highly appreciated. Thanks.
