Awesome deal thanks !
You’re welcome!
Great deal, but take note: Clif recently changed the formulation on these. According to my son, they taste different AND they removed all the added vitamins that made these an option (at our house, anyway) for breakfast. Now they’re pretty much a slightly healthier candy bar.
Thanks for the heads up on the change of ingredients. I had no idea! These had been our go-to for on the go snacks but now I’ll have to re-evaluate. Bummer:(
It’s funny you say that, my son also commented on the change of texture, taste… heh I had no idea of the actual change! Thank you for sharing!
Mind sharing what the change was?
OK, I’ll do my best. 🙂
OLD CLIF Z-BAR, CHOC. CHIP FLAVOR: 3.5g fat, 3g fiber, 10g whole grains, 12g sugar, Vit. A 6%, Vit. C 35%, Calcium 20%, Iron 10%, Vit. B1 30%, Vit. B2 15%, Vit. B3 20%, Vit. B6 20%, Folate 20%, Vit. B12 10%, Phosphorus 2%, Zinc 15%.
NEW: 5g fat, 2g fiber, 11g whole grains, 10g sugar, Vit. A 0%, Vit. C 0%, Calcium 2%, Iron 6%, Vit. E 6%, Phosphorus 5%, Magnesium 6%.
The Clif representative I emailed with said the company feels they do not need to fortify the bars any longer because kids should get their vitamins from the other parts of their balanced diet. (Um, OK – ?)
My son has an eating disorder where he has a very limited list of “safe” foods he can eat. The old chocolate chip bars were one of them, and it was nice to know he was getting nutrients from them. The bars were a good breakfast or post-practice/game snack. He cannot eat the new ones but they don’t offer the nutrients that were the big plus of the old ones anyway. So that’s why I noticed the changes and why I have both old and new bars on hand. We ordered 2-3 boxes from Amazon every month and I have the boxes of new ones that he won’t eat (his friends + my husband are taking care of that, though), plus I went to Trader Joe’s once we figured this out and bought enough of the old version to get us through the summer.
I’d like to know how the ingredients changed too…. please
Great info Jenny…thanks for sharing!!
