Curious what Hip2Save thought of Home Chef?

Overall we loved the recipes – they were delicious! We also liked that the two meals came separately packaged, so you didn’t have to figure out which ingredients went with which meal. Additionally, it was so nice that nothing went to waste since all of the ingredients are perfectly portioned for the recipes. Oh, and it’s definitely fun getting to try new meals that you wouldn’t typically cook!

Here’s what Hip2Save readers have to say about Home Chef

My husband and I have been getting meals from Home Chef for a couple of months now. We are pretty good cooks and were hesitant to try a meal delivery service. After some research, I decided that Home Chef was best as they offered low carb/cal. We are so pleased and happy with Home Chef. The meat has been top quality and everything very fresh. The green beans that came with our last meal looked like they were picked right before they were packaged. I highly recommend Home Chef!

I really like Home Chef. The recipes are easy, the cleanup is a breeze, and the food is usually delicious. And the portions are good sized. It is more expensive than going to the grocery store, but it’s very convenient.

I tried Home Chef and really liked it. There’s a nice variety of recipes, they offer gluten-free options, and the portions are a perfect size. The produce items in my box were of excellent quality, just as if I’d picked out each pepper, onion, shallot, etc. myself. Since I moved to a tiny town almost 2 hrs away from the high-end grocery stores I used to frequent in the large city I moved from, Home Chef still allows me to cook the type of fresh food my family enjoys without the hassle of a long round trip to the grocery store.

Does anyone know if they offer a dairy free option?

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi Jane! When you click through the options there is a section where you choose which items you would like to avoid. They do list milk as one of the selections. They do note that if you have a severe allergy that they cannot guarantee that some cross contamination might occur as all meals are made in the same facility. They also have a live chat option at the bottom right of the page for additional questions OR you can give them a call – 872-225-2433 Hope that helps!

I’m signed up with Hello Fresh and LOVE them…When you create your taste profile all those option are available to choose from if you want dairy, nuts, shellfish, wheat, soy and even spicyness. It may limit what options but from all the meals i’ve seen omitting the cheese would still be easy to enjoy their meals. You can always sign up and if you don’t like your options cancel right away. https://www.homechef.com/invite/AQbD5VhZkmlNN

Home chef is my favorite! I don’t have to chop as much as blue apron, the flavors are simple. I wonder if there are deals for current home chef members. Does anyone know?

  4. Wynn

With this deal, do we know how much final cost would be? Or what’s the best new plan to get with this deal? I’m looking to try it out possibly.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi there! It will likely depend on what you choose as you go through the options. You will grab $30 off your first order when you click through the link in the post. Hope that helps!

I tried it and only omitted mushroom. With the 30 off it was cents shy of 50$ for two meals for four people.

        • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Good to know how it worked out for you! Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks!

      You’re welcome! Enjoy!

Unfortunately Home Chef didn’t work for us. The recipes were yummy but there just isn’t enough food. We eat mostly carb free and the meals we received left us hungry still. My fiancé is 6’3” and he’d never survive eating these portion sizes… although I assume recommended.

    • Mary

Thanks for your input. I just signed up, hopefully it is a good amount for my family.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear about that! Thanks a ton for sharing your experience with us!

It would be nice if you could see all of the available preferences and foods to avoid without giving them your personal information. I don’t have any allergies that I am aware of. I just don’t eat raspberries, grapefruit, pomegranate, olives, peppers, onions, celery, lima beans, coleslaw, sauerkraut, mint, hot sauce, Greek yogurt, or wild blueberries. I will eat cultivated blueberries. I avoid ginger when I can.

If prime now delivers to you area, you can have whole food deliver fresh food to your door within two hours of ordering. In the morning, I look on Allrecipes.com and figure out what sounds good for dinner and then add all the ingredients I need to my cart for the meal and have it delivered so it arrives right as I am getting home from work. The driver deleivers the food to your doorstep and will leave it if your not home so don’t have it deleivered in the morning if your not going to be home until the end of day or your food will spoil. The deleivery windowS are all day, just select the one that works best for you and you can have your food in under two hours, if needed. The cold/perishable food always arrives in nice insulated cold bags. The best part is this service is FREE if your an amazon prime member and in addition to dinner I can add fresh fruit or any odds and ends I need. The food comes from Whole Foods so I know I am getting the best quality. I do recommend tipping your deleivery driver.

I just tried to sign up for 2 meals a week, feeding of 4 excluding soy, wheat and milk and it says “Based on your selections, we are unable to recommend enough meals this week.” What does that mean????
