Amazon credit card doesn’t charge the exchange rate, we figured that out after paying $99 a year for I don’t know how long with the sapphire card.
I guess I am not understanding the advantage of the TSA Pre✓. Whenever we are at the airport checking in for international flights we have never had to wait longer than if we had it.

    • Kelly Gibbs

Agreed, I fly a lot and often find that the pre-check line gets longer than the regular line!

    • AE

It could depend on where you live. We fly out of Orlando International Airport. The lines tend to be very long so TSA Pre✓ saves us a ton of time in security lines!

      • Crystal

Agree with AE. You also don’t have to remove your shoes in pre-check. Kind of a nice perk!!

      • Zara from DC

My goodness, MCO is insane no matter what time of year or time of day I fly out of there!! Why is it so hectic?

    • Folini

That’s good to know about the Amazon card…There’s no annual fee with the Amazon card?

  2. BlueRS

Agreed! It saves 30 minutes + waiting in lines sometimes.

  3. AliNes

Can someone outline a simple difference between the programs? Should we do both? Thanks in advance.

    • Martha H.

If you go on Facebook there are travel hacking groups that explain them in detail.

    • N

      Global Entry includes TSA Precheck

      • N

In a nut shell, Global Entry is used for international travel. TSA Precheck is for stateside travel.

What this post doesn’t say is many of these cards have annual fees. For instance, the AMEX platinum has a $450 annual fee for the first cardholder on the account an an additional fee for the second. Military get that fee waived, but everyone else has to pay. : )

    • Rockstar

      $450!! 😲

  5. Dkp91576

I have a $450 fee with Amex Delta but that fee provides me with TSA precheck, extended warranty on expensive purchases, car rental insurance, 2 free airline tickets that includes first class, plus 2 free companion tickets. Once a year, on my anniversary I get another free round trip ticket. I also accumulate points with purchases and of course Amex perks are nice. I get presales on all concerts with a private line to order them, and tons of offers for cash back. Just today I bought Disney hotel tickets. I spent $400 for two nights and I got back $75. I feel the $450 annual fee is paid back to me just with the anniv ticket.

  6. Folini

Do you have the name of any good Facebook travel hacking groups?

  7. briem

I just took advantage of this deal last month. It was an easy process and already received my credit on my statement. The BEST part? I was traveling with a 1 and 7 year old last weekend and they were automatically upgraded to TSA pre check also!! And the regular line was LOOOOONNNNGGG! I highly recommend if you travel with small children.

  8. briem

Btw….@Hip2save, can you do a post about the perks of credit cards and which have the best ones???

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for the suggestion! I passed it along. 🙂

  9. gary

Thats where we are at not with our “security” measures ??!! If you have the right credit card ??!! Ugh, shameful, im sure 911 survivors are thrilled

    • ana

But they do an interview with you ahead of time and meet with you and check your criminal history, so from what I got this is more secure.

  10. ana

No! I haven’t tried the card in another country yet, but it says no exchange rate.
We’ve always used the sapphire card which has good perks but it’s $99 a year.

    • ana

Woops, didn’t mean to post that here😱
