For those of you who have participated in this offer in the past, how soon did the store you went to run out? Just wondering if it is one of those events where you have to show up first thing in the morning.
I did it last year. People were lined before the store opened. The store only had 200 to give away. I still got one, but I would plan to get there early.
I did this last year and it was so poorly done. the store only had 200 to give away and people were in line 2 hours early. the colors that they got were hideous and people were not able to chose what they got. the employees were miserable and the people in line were too.
Thanks for your reply. Anything I have to stand in line for hours with the distinct possibility that it will be a total waste of time, is not for me. I would rather fork over the money than stand in line. Or buy a lipstick at Walgreens or Walmart in a color I really like for a fraction of the cost of a Mac lipstick.
Many of my lipsticks have come from Walgreens in the past, when they used to do more Register Reward deals. Although I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so I haven’t tried that many high-end department store brands, I am familiar with some like Clinique, Estee Lauder, etc. I have liked the texture and colors of quite a few of the Revlon brand, which I think they call SuperLustrous product line.
Are Macyβs participating
I believe so, they did last year at least.
I hope they give a rain check to those who don’t get one otherwise that’s really a poor way to advertise for a company.
They donβt give Rainchecks. Itβs not a poor way to advertise. This isnβt kindergarten. Not everyone is entitled to having things their way. Everything isnβt fair. Itβs a first come, first serve situation. They donβt hide that. People get really excited for the OPPORTUNITY to get a free item. Itβs great marketing.
Exactly. Even when things are free, people are still complaining. Youβre paying nothing, but still unhappy that they have limited quantities and only offer selected colors? Itβs not βpoorly doneβ as someone else above complained- your expectations are just poorly managed.
12 thumbs up to you for your back-to-reality candor.
Kudos to you. Finally someone rational who doesn’t race out to get something they don’t need or want, just because it happens to be free. We’re talking about an item less than $20 item, with no choice whatsoever, standing in line for a protracted time and no guarantee of receiving whatever “treasure” is being advertised. All that is never worth your time–if you can’t live without it, just buy one for pete’s sake.
Well said Elaine, Roz and 50shadesoflipstick!
Rain check on a FREE item? Lol, no. Sorry.
Does this work at Ulta?
Check the link above for participating stores/counters. our local Ulta does not participate, but the one next town over does. Our Macy’s does, too.
I’m with you there, sister! Plus it’s too hot in our area (inland), 9:00 AM is already above 80s, maybe 90s π
i hope i get one !!! LOL i can’t afford their expensive makeup normally even though i LOVE Their makeup…. hahah so this would be a fun freebie =) thanx 4 sharing
Oh my husband is going to LOVE standing in line for thisπ
No stores in our area, the only one was Nordstrom and they closed down, so it looks like you can do it online and pick your color! With $25 purchase, but free shipping!
My comment of it being poorly done was in no way complaining about the limited quantities but instead the hush hush nature of what they were giving away. Last year I waited in line because my store gave the distinct impression that they were giving away many more than 200 and that we would be able to pick our color. When the day arrived and I waited in line only to be told after 2 hours that they ran out, was told that it was “too bad” for everyone else, and that no one could pick their ccolors, I felt that it was poorly explained in their advertising. That was poorly done. Had I known that it was only 200 per location then I would not have come that day but instead gone and paid for mine on another day.
Don’t worry about it:) most of us understand what you were saying and actually found your comment helpful. Don’t let one or two people get you down because they jump in and try to make people feel bad. Oh! And say stuff they would never have the guts to actually say to your face.
Have a good day!π
Sorry but if all it takes to make someone “feel bad” is that others merely disagree w/ them, then they are too brittle for the Internet. How about having the guts to tolerate different viewpoints when you’re taking part in a discussion on a public post?
Lol relax !! Its only lipsticks !!!
Lol I am relaxed though…? Iβm not sure why my comment bothered you so much, but you seem to be projecting. Itβs okay…theyβre only comments.
Itβs always the same people.
βNasty and uglyβ = anyone that disagrees with me π Also unlike you, not everyone uses sleep and booze to cope in life. Bye, girl!
Wow… ok. This is uncalled for.
Some people are just miserable π€·
Calling people nasty and ugly for disagreeing w/ you and suggesting that their problem is lack of sleep/alcohol is uncalled for too.
Free make up Iβm in but I got a pharmacy meeting
Does anyone know what colors they are giving away?
Oops! I found them on the link above. I see some nice colors. Exciting.
Last year I had checked with a couple of the nearby stores and found that the shades were quite odd colors that were being cleared out because they did not sell well; I’m almost certain they said purple and I recall something about yellow and even blue shades.
I think itβs ridiculous women waste so much money on things like makeup in the first place. And no, I donβt wear any. Save your time waiting in line for this, and honestly the thousands of hours spent in your lifetime doing makeup/hair/nails/clothing and o viously save money too. Who cares???
Everyone has a hobby. Some people like makeup. You like to lecture people on the internet. π€·ββοΈ
Itβs almost as if people are allowed to care about and enjoy different things in life. Crazy, right? Not wearing makeup definitely makes you better than other women.
Just because some people like to play with makeup doesn’t mean they don’t care about other things. I wear makeup, because it makes me feel good. Just like you post on the internet that you don’t, because it makes you feel good.
How is this any kinder than the commenter you were criticizing above? You’re no different.
I feel way better with makeupβ€οΈ and people don’t say, ” are you feeling okay” lol
Bahaha! This is the best comment! Thank you
@Puleeze πππ I love your comment!!
I got my MIL free Mac lipgloss at Macyβs like a yr and a half ago, with some coupon they had. Would love to get her some again but not waiting in line outside our mall after I tried waiting for build a bear with my 3 yr old! πππππ MIL asked for Victoriaβs Secret lotion for her upcoming bday anyhow, guess I need to find that on sale!
Bravo! I applauded your comment and agree 100%!!
Hey, if anyone is flying out of OβHare International Airport tomorrow the MAC store is participating ππβοΈ
I have three stores nearby participating. I have wanted to try their lipsticks, but I don’t wear lipsticks lol.
I placed an order online and I added the lipstick to my cart, during checkout i used paypal, when i was redirected back to mac, I wasn’t able to review my order so I just hit place order, and when I received the confirmation email the lipstick was removed!! I called MAC 1800# and the guy told me he needed to wait an hour for the order to appear on the system, and he assure me he was going to add the lipstick back to my order.
Something doesn’t sound right, If I don’t get the lipstick i be returning the order.
I wonder if that happened because the deal wasn’t active until midnight PST? Please let us know if they fix it for you
Thanks Hip2Save! I wish the team would delete some of these snarky comments that have nothing to do with the deal.
Seriously? It’s an active discussion. People really shouldn’t feel overly entitled to something a store is giving away. 200 in a TON for one location to have in my opinion, but if you’re going to have to wait hours in line for something the question becomes, is it really worth your time? If you make more money working in the amount of time it takes you to get the freebie, and it’s not some super rare item, it’s probably not.
Yup! 100% agreed!
Um someone called another poster ugly, how is that helpful to anyone? That’s a personal dig that has 0 to do with the deal. If people want to wait in line, that’s their prerogative and if you don’t, it’s your prerogative.
They must’ve removed it. I’m wondering how they choose what to delete and what not to. Obviously they keep some mean comments and remove others. The commenters have changed a lot since I first started following. I like to look at the comments because sometimes it let’s you know if a deal is worth the time.
I went to the store in Savannah, GA and there was only a few people. Also they werent advertising anything that stated it was free lipstick day. I walked around looking and I had to ask if they were participatiing. But apparantly very few people knew. How ever i did get mine.
