Kohl’s, Thank You for Awesome Customer Service
Sent from reader, Amanda:
Collin-I wanted to drop you a quick email and tell you about my recent experience with Kohl’s.
I had a 40% off email code last week and browsed the Kohl’s app for 4 hours. I live in the central time zone so I knew I needed to submit my order by 11:59 that same night. I had 3 purses and 2 pair of pants, for my son, in my cart and had applied a 15% kids code and my 40% mystery code. As I was about to submit it, I decided to go back quickly and grab one more pair of pants for my son. My subtotal after sales and codes was $149.67. I submitted, but it got stuck. I waited for it to go through since I was at the last minute and when I realized it wouldn’t, I refreshed to try again. I had initially submitted at 11:57PM. When I refreshed, it went ahead and swapped over to the next day’s codes so I lost the 40% and the sale price on one purse that was $61.90, originally $109.
I called Kohl’s first thing the next morning to see if there was anything that could be done. They said they would be happy to help me since they were having system issues the night before and felt I was being truthful. (Thankfully, I had written down all the prices, on a piece of paper, when I saw it was stuck and the good prices were still on my screen).
The Kohl’s rep started helping me but their system was having trouble. The rep kept apologizing to me for it taking so long. In the end, my call lasted exactly 1 hour and 55 minutes but my total went from $261.72 to $153.92 because they honored their prices from the night before. So I saved $107.80 just by calling and explaining to them what had happened.
I thought that was pretty top notch for a company to devote a representative for 2 hours so I could save $107.80. I was impressed and very appreciative.
I wanted to share this with you in case you ever find yourself in a similar predicament and also because I believe people like to share only the bad things about a company but this is what really matters. At least to me!
I hope you have a wonderful day and I thank you for every dollar you have saved me for 10 years!! I found you really early on and you have made it possible for me to be a stay at home mom.

I totally agree! I ordered several things yesterday with the Black Friday deals. They accidentally fulfilled at the wrong store. I called this morning and the customer service agent said I had to cancel the order but he resubmitted the order with yesterday’s pricing and coupon code and had it sent directly to my house for free. Additionally he applied my kohl’s cash. They have been fantastic any time I have called.
I hope you were able to put your phone on speakerphone and do the dishes or some chores or paperwork or maybe were driving or something where you didn’t waste 2 hours of your time sitting there!
Plus four hours shopping! Kohl’s should price things reasonably rather than make customers jump through hoops like this.
I totally agree about the waste of time. Better customer service would have been in respect of your time and offered to call/email to follow up afterwards.
love kohls. Whenever i purchase something fragile online to be shipped I recieve it broken. And they always ask to replace the item with same discounts. 🙂
I love kohls but I always get everything broken😂🤣
There are companies out there that do not get your stuff to you broken 🤷♀️
Glad others are still having good experiences with Kohl’s customer service – I used to sing their praises, but the last 3-4 times I’ve had to contact them regarding an error they just say there’s nothing they can do about it. Hopefully I’ve just gotten unlucky lately with who answers my calls/live chats!
Yes my local store is horrible. They have awful customer service and their price changing game is the worst
That’s the response I received several months ago when I called CS. I was so disappointed because I’ve always heard pretty good things about them and my 1 issue didn’t have the same results
Before several months ago, I have been underwhelmed by their customer service. But lately, I feel like they have been making changes to provide a better customer experience!
It is great that the agent was able to help but I have to ask why with such a big company why would it take so long. I have had similar waits with kohls and really think it should not take so long to fix problems with their site.
I ordered last night and one of my items was scheduled to be picked up but I had a free shipping code so I wanted it shipped to my house with everything else. I chatted with them and they cancelled to order that went to the store and had me order it again and then they adjusted the price to reflect the Black Friday sales and had it shipped for free. Great service!!
I have to say that I have had really good experiences with Kohls. One time I did a pick up in store and they filled the wrong item which I saw right away. They felt bad because I had to wait for them to correct it and gave me $10 Kohls cash just for waiting and the mistake which I thought was really, really nice. Another time the cashier did not put in my rewards and the CS rep did it right away, no hassle. Their return policy is top notch which is why since I had my child I have been shopping there since I can try to buy next year’s clothes and if I don’t use them or if they don’t fit I can return them. The furniture I ordered from them was a great price and when one piece of hardware needed to be replaced, the manufacturer they worked with replaced the part in 2 days! I was impressed! Love Kohls!
I love Kohl’s last time I order this sweater and my order was cancelled. I had used my Kohl’s cash and $5 coupon to pay. They apologized by giving me $5 for the inconvenience. I order that same sweater a size smaller hoping the order would go through and it did! $20 sweater for “free” (the $10 Kohl’s cash 💰 technically I do pay)
Plus four hours shopping for five items! Kohl’s should price things reasonably rather than make customers jump through hoops like this.
I have not shopped at Kohl’s since spending too much time with their no customer service and then contacting their home office about a shipping issue. They said their shipping company was not a problem and to call them if my order wasn’t received by the date promised. It was not received by the date promised and Kohl’s did nothing. I have found other places to shop after being a loyal Kohl’s shopper for over ten years. If we accept incompetence it will continue.
They charged me five times for a $30 order and charged me incorrectly when an agent helped me over the phone. $250 for something that should have cost $30 and they have yet to fix it- 3 weeks later! Not a fan.
You should contact your credit card company and have them dispute the charges. You have a limited period of time to do this so I would do it right away. If Kohl’s won’t fix the problem you’ll just have to go around them.
I ordered a weighted blanket that went out of stock before my order was filled and they still let me keep the $15 in Kohl’s cash that I earned! I thought that was really nice of them ❤️ Love Kohl’s
I love Kohl’s customer service. They treat me well any time I have a problem, which doesn’t happen often, fortunately.
I like the deals I get but Kohl’s changes prices and takes items off the their websites during sales. I had clearance blankets in my cart ( they were no longer on the website but in my cart) Used my 40% off coupon total was about $50. Checked my Kohl’s account and they charged me $250 for the blankets. The only reason Kohl’s fixed it was because I had a screenshot.
*The blankets magically reappeared on the website the next day when mystery codes had expired.
The same thing happened to me. I added a bunch of clearance items to my cart at 90% off, when I went to checkout the price jumped up. I was able to catch some and delete. Other items changed after I hit checkout. Very deceptive and I will be returning. Also it happened on an order the other way where price went down, but then I got charged for shipping because it didn’t meet the 75$ mark.
To add to this I couldn’t get my order in last night, couldn’t connect because of the amazing Black Friday deals, codes wouldn’t work I kept calling to place order and hanging up every twenty minutes because no one would come to the phone so I started a chat and they told me they were going to add points for the inconvenience but I could get the same price when I did call to place one the next day so I went to the store and they are always so nice they had me call from their store and since my order was still in my cart it was a breeze it was super, and free shipping home! Win Win!! Thx Kohls
This happened to me, but they basically just said it happens & wouldn’t fix it.
I stopped shopping Kohls in May of this year. I am still waiting for the customer service manager to call me back (nearly 6 months later). That was suggested after I was on the phone for over an hour without resolution. They had no manager available to talk to me and said they would have someone call the next business day. Would rather spend money at a store that cares
Yes! The Kohl’s near me in Illinois has one rep in particular at the customer service desk who is always soooo helpful and apologizes for problems and is just so kind in general. Such a huge difference from the awful customer service I have experienced every single time I have had to return something or pick up an online order from Walmart. I don’t know why I ever even bother with Walmart! I love Kohl’s!
I used to LOVE Kohl’s! I could not say enough good things, but over the past year the customer service has really gone downhill fast! Shopping from their website was nothing but trouble for me. I kept getting the wrong items delivered and had to visit my local store 35 miles away to return them. The customer service was terrible when I called to have the items I ordered sent to me. One of them actually yelled at me and spoke broken English. I also was charged for an item that I returned. They refused to take the charge off my bill so I immediately called and cancelled my Kohl’s charge card. Haven’t shopped them much since. Too bad…they used to be amazing!
That’s so strange. Whenever I tell them I live 40 minutes away from a store, they usually ship my correct item and tell me to keep the old one. Might help with coyotes howling in the background sense I have to stand outside for cell phone reception lol. It’s only happened twice and it was the wrong size on an item, but still. 🙁
I LOVE Kohl’s! I’ve never experienced a bad customer service representative. They are always do accommodating!
I stopped shopping at Kohl’s because I could not keep up with their so called “kohl’s cash”, which is essentially a coupon. The value of the so called “cash” is about 50 cents on the dollar, if not less. The period you get to use the cash is during the price hike period, then on top of it, any coupon you use is only on the total amount minus the “cash” amount. All said and done, I really do not have time for their games – jacking up prices during coupon redemption period, crazy hoops to jump through like pretend store cash that is meant to deceive. I go to Jcp where I know what I get. They don’t have any gimmicks as complicated as Kohl’s.
I agree about the Kohl’s cash. It is way too much of a hassle to deal with—especially if used to purchase an item that has to be returned. Ugh.
I completely agree Su!!!!
I contacted Kohl’s last year when a dollhouse went from 70ish to 50s. Was 17 days later. They refused to credit the difference, only option was to re-purchase same item and return first. Now they are limiting the promo codes on toys so I doubt I’ll do much shopping there this season.
The $60 Kolhs cash that I got from an online order came with an invalid pin. I fought for a month. Everything I tried to order was invalid for Kolhs cash. Horrible service. Their fault the wrong pin.
I had some issues with things I purchased during their early Black Friday sale.
Had to call twice but both times reps were very helpful and I could actually understand them!
They gave me an extra $15 in kohl’s cash for my trouble so I was overall pleased with it
I shop at Kohl’s a lot and when I went to buy things off the back Friday sale the website was having issues. By the time it finally went through it was like 10 mins after midnight so the prices went up. I called yesterday morning and the first person I talked to was confused by what I was saying so she transferred me to her so called supervisor. He basically told me he didn’t know what I was talking about, tried to make me feel stupid, and told me he couldn’t do anything.
I called back and the new person asked me some of the prices I thought were changed in my cart, he said he looked it up in the system and I was correct. I had 34 items in my cart and he verified all of them for me. The new total he gave me was correct from the Black Friday sale. I just find it funny a so called supervisor made me out to be stupid but one of the regular people fixed it with no problem.
I have had good experiences in store, but terrible recently with the call in customer service. I have received the wrong item 3 separate times. They then want me to go to the store, pay for the replacement in advance, and 2 of the 3 times they charged me more for the replacement than what I got when I returned the wrong item. This all required at least 20 minutes on the phone each time. This was all for their mistake and should have been made right without any additional inconvenience to me.
I have to disagree. I had an absolutely horrible experience with Kohl’s customer service recently. I placed an order when they had all the 90% off clearance last week. I got the email saying my order had been submitted. Then the next day I got an email that my entire order had been cancelled. I tried to log in to my account and discovered that I was locked out. I called customer service and was told that it was a security measure because they thought my order was fraudulent. I’m a cardholder and place frequent orders. This one was no different. Same card, same address, even same type of items. They couldn’t tell me why this order was considered fraudulent. My only option was to answer a bunch of security questions to be allowed back in to my account and reorder. No apologies for my inconvenience or all the items that were now out of stock that I couldn’t reorder. I asked for some type of compensation, either similar items price matched or at least a store credit and was told no by two different (very rude) associates. After being transferred around several times I finally spoke with an associate who at least offered to deduct $20 from the remaining items in my order for the inconvenience. The whole thing left such a bad taste in my mouth.
I totally disagree. I’m jellous sometimes that u guys get the best results. Last time I callled Kohl’s about honoring their prices from last night and they were being rude about it. She said if it’s not what I see on the computer then they can’t make any changes to it, wasted my 45 minutes of wait time & talking to them. They insist that I go in store to see if they have the item and I said I’m not trying to see if the item is in stock. I want my jacket for the sale price that I saw less than 6 hours ago. They wouldn’t give it to me & were rude too
I just hope you never ever need to return something there.
Also, why not give everyone the %40 off? I’ll just go to a store where I pay a fair price instead of begging for someone’s else’s code. No thanks
Had an awful experience – received a flash 40% off code during a noreaster drove to the store it was closed, called them to see if they would honor it and they basically told me to go eff myself sooooo yeah done with Kohl’s
