Does anyone have a recommendation for a good kids coat for snowy weather? We are heading to NY from the south and need something super warm.

I like the 3-in-1 coats for my kids for the cold winters. We’re in northern Utah.

we live in the snowy tundra of WI and haven’t had too many coats that dont do the job. The walmart puffer jackets are actually a favorite of my kids and their snowpants were super sturdy up until this year. we’ve also liked childrens place, lands end, justice. I agree about the 3-in-1s being the best especially if you’ll be back in the south for parts of the winter. also, the inner layer is best for compact warmth in carseats instead of bulky puffy coats too keep them safer!

I would recommend the Gap down parka for NY weather. It’s a bit pricey but with the black Friday sales, you might get it for $40. I like that it’s wind proof, water resistant and super warm. I get it every year for my 4 yr old son.

We moved to NY from VA part year. My first lesson in coats, you will want a hood. Something lined is ideal. You will also want layers. I bought an off brand coat for my oldest last year, and this year I am only buying one with a weather rating, because where we live it gets very cold, and is often windy. I don’t care for longer style coats for kids because I worry about mobility, but the more coverage the better!

Are these prices just online, or in store as well?

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi Dana! It looks like this price should be available in store too. You may want to call ahead before going in. I have been trying to call in to my store to know for certain, but I have been unable to get through!

I recommend looking at them in person first if you can. I’ve been shopping for a good winter coat for my 7 year old. These were thinner than I was hoping.

Kohl’s is going to have their ZeroXposur kid’s coats for $19.99 Black Friday doorbuster, plus I think there’s 20% off. These coats seemed like a much better quality coat than the ones at Macy’s.

    • jaci

I agree on the kohls coats

  7. Kristen

These coats are great if you only need a few uses out of it in a mild climate. I bought several a few years ago and after a few weeks they were ripped and ready for the garbage. The next year I splurged on Columbia, super warm and they all still look brand new after tons of use and being passed down to younger siblings and cousins.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear they did not hold up! Thanks for the honest comment, Kristen!

I got my daughter one for $13.99 from the deal u posted last time. It didnt get very good reviews but i went ahead anyways since it was a good deal- my 7yo picked it out and i think it is great quality!!! She loves it! It is thick and came w a beanie. Super win!
    Thanks h2s!!!

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I’m so glad she is enjoying hers! You’re so welcome!

  9. Traci Sullivan

If you leave your purchase there to pick up on or after November 30 it is an additional 30% off for a friends and family sale. So these coats were only $11.00! I did not have the opportunity to test them for temperature durability but they look like really great coats. For $11!

  11. Jessica

Be aware, I ordered coats from Macy’s when they had the $13.99 deal, ordered a size larger than my kids wear in clothes size. We did pickup in store and my daughter tried on her coat and it was easily 2 sizes too small, she couldn’t even get her arms into it. So these run VERY small.
