You don’t need to show them an email in store. They will simply ask for your email address to look up your account, and the discount that applies to your tier of membership will automatically be applied to your purchase after that (15% or 20% off).
That’s not necessarily true. I’ve been Rouge for years and they’ve accidentally applied the wrong code (less than my BI level).
While the system won’t allow them to discount you more than your level allows, they still manually put in the code.
It’s true you don’t have to show the email, but do have to mention the discount/sale and be sure you received the right discount.
Okay but that’s human error lol…it doesn’t change the fact that the system will reflect your discount %age based on tier level, negating the need to show them an email which was my point. Obviously, it makes sense to check your receipt and do the math yourself regardless…I assumed that people do this anyway though.
My point was that it’s not automatic or preprogrammed in the system.
They will typically ask you for your email or Beauty Insider card with every purchase. Even more so now that they put tighter restrictions on their return policy earlier this year. That doesn’t mean they’ll automatically give you the discount just because you are making a purchase. Just like if you don’t put the code in online they won’t automatically give you the discount. If you don’t ask about the sale or refer to the sale, you are not guaranteed to get it.
Yes, it is- for all Rewards members during sales. BTW, I work at Sephora 🙂
This is how we do sale promos- once we pull up your account info (either via scanning your Rewards card or entering your email address/phone number), we can see the appropriate discount reflected in there, if you are a Beauty Insider member (at any tier level). That’s why we don’t need you to show us the email or bring the postcard in at all…b/c the info is already in the system.
The only way that you don’t automatically get a discount is if you aren’t a Rewards member (BI, VIB, or Rouge). So if you ever went to a Sephora store during a sale and they had your account pulled up but didn’t give you a discount without you having to ask for one (?)…then someone screwed up lol.
Yeah I get that the code is in the system, but if that code isn’t put in then you don’t get it. You don’t send people blindly into the store thinking that they are guaranteed a discount just because they are buying something. Now maybe employees are doing something wrong and maybe they aren’t. I can promise you though, any company (Sephora included) , will be more than happy to let you pay full price. I’ve seen it happen. So, you mention the sale because it’s not automatic- it’s human entering.
15% off also works on previous Play! By Sephora bags located under gift sets. Cost $8.50!
Great find, Lucy! Thanks for sharing! https://hip2save.com/2018/11/16/play-by-sephora-beauty-boxes-as-low-as-8-50-36-value-more/
Jenn, obviously a code has to be entered by a sales associate in order to for a promo to be redeemed…nobody was arguing otherwise, lol. My point was that the discount that you are eligible for is already in our system, so you don’t need to present an email to an associate in order to redeem it. We are trained to always apply discounts for Rewards members during sales by default once we see your BI info pop up. Sorry if your Sephora store is doing things against policy by withholding discounts from you unless you explicitly ask for them…but don’t lash out at me over it. I was simply informing you of our policy…your experience of being charged full price during a sale was most likely a mistake and not someone out to steal your $. But good luck.
