Thanks guys. Sometimes things don’t occur to you until you read them. My high school sophomore is always telling me that his phone is about to die so a portable charger is definitely going on his gift list. Have any of you used the Anker? I’ve bought portable charges for him before but they haven’t lasted very long without breaking.

    • Kathy

I actually just bought an Anker that was supposed to fully charge 2 phones before it ran out of power and it only charged one. It was almost $40 at Target too. Kinda disappointed. I bought it because it had good reviews. Curious as to what others find reliable and lots of power when it comes to a portable charger???

    • Ashleigh

Check out the Dynex charger. I purchased mine from Best Buy and it has worked very well for me. I use my phone a lot and this portable charger has really saved me a few times. I have tried several and the Dynex has been the best so far.

    • Tracy

If you own a phone you should always buy from the company you got it from. You should always use the power block that comes with the phone. Not uaing different charging items. Also it should be charged when it has low battery and also not be taken off charger when it is not full. It ruins the battery of the phone.

      • Sarah

Too bad we dont live in this perfect!

    • I❤Cats

I’ve not tried this one, but I do own Belkin 5000mAH & LOVE it. lightweight, quick charges, about $30 @target. Its my understanding ‘mAH’ will determine how many charges for specific devices (phone, ipad, etc).

    • Jennifer

All our phones have the self charging cases on them but before we got those, the mophie was great.

  2. Amber

I cannot figure out what to get my 14 year old son any help would be much appreciated!!!

    • Jackie

I also have a 14 year old and they are so hard to buy for Christmas. I got him a Nike zip up hoodie from kohl’s. A printer from Best Buy (Hip2Save posted this deal for like $20) and the insignia clock with google speakers also from Best Buy (Hip2Save posted the $25 deal). A blanket from kohl’s. And a few stocking stuffers. I’m still looking for more things but for now I think I should be good.

      • Amber

        Thank you 😊

        • Jackie

    • Susan S.

My 14 yr old son is asking for hoodies from brand names like Nike, Adidas, Champion, Rip N Dip… Van’s Shoes in the camo color. He basically wants brand name clothes from places like Zumiez or Tilleys. The really big one he wants is apple airpods.

Or basically anything from the list Hip2Save provided!!! It’s a great list!

      • Amber

My 6 year old son is in to name brand everything but oddly enough not my 14 year old son, he’s kind of nerdy lol and he actually just told me last night that he is a nerd lol so he’s fine with that, which for me makes it harder to buy for him 😞

        • Susan S.

Have you asked your 14 yr old what he wants? That’s what I do with my teens. They give me a list of their wishes and I shop from that… They are happy and I don’t have to stress.

        • Jillian

Amber, have you looked at places like Hot Topic or ThinkGeek? My 13 year old fellow nerdy son loves stuff from those places.

          • Amber

Thank you I will do that!!!

            • Taryn

My 13 year old son loves rubix cubes. He started with the 3×3 one year and gets a new one each year. This year it’s a 16 sided one. He is also getting a 3D pen and a bunch of phone products.

        • Michelle

My 6 year old son is too!! I don’t know where it comes from!

    • Danielle

Amber, what about an experience gift? That is always my go to for my son. Concert tickets to a show he wants to go to, a comedy show, Fluffy is touring. This year, I bought my son 2 VIP 3 day passes to Wizard Con. Our show is in Feb, so it will give him something to look forward to. My son is 17, and I have been doing experience gifts since he was little. Maybe something he has always wanted to do. Learn to snowboard, or learn to surf, or something along those lines.

  3. Hilary

Thank you for thinking of the tweens and teens! I’ve been following you for years and now our daughter is 12, so I still love to follow you for all of the deals. She’s getting a lot of the items on this list, so it’s good to know my shopping is on point this year. 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh good! You’re very welcome, Hilary! Thank YOU for the sweet comment! It sure means a lot!

  4. Lisa Renz

or as you’ve posted before you could not do as much “stuff” and do experiences 🙂 I get crazy anxiety this time of year running around buying so much stuff 🙁

  5. Layla

Anyone have suggestions on 20 year olds??My son just turned 20 and I have no idea what to get him. I love the printer for pics! I’m definitely going to get that for my teen girls. They will love it!

    • heather

When I was 20, I was in college, and always broke. I always appreciated getting stuff I needed (or stuff that was useful, but always had to do without), but didn’t have to pay for. 😁. Stuff to cook with, gift cards to cheap restaurants, etc.

    • Rochelle

My son is 19 and getting Airpods this year. Gift cards to restaurants and gas cards are always appreciated too.

    • Ashley

My 19 year old moved out recently and I got him an air fryer. He has lots of household basics he needs but hopefully I can find some “fun” items or tickets to a show he would enjoy.

    • Danielle

Do you live close to amusement park? When I was 20, I would have loved a season pass to our closest amusement park.

      • Ann

Yes! All through my teens and 20’s my grandparent’s gift to us was a season pass to Hersheypark. It most definitely got a lot of use and was very much appreciated.

        • Danielle

Hersheypark is somewhere that I would love to visit. We live in Oregon, and I thought I would be able to fit in on our trip to Ohio this past year, but it did not work out. I am looking forward to when I will be able to plan this trip.

    • Steph-B

Gas gift cards,Target and grocery gift cards- practical needs “stuff”

  6. ashley

Fyi, the link to the sequin pillows is for pillow cases. You will need to buy plain throw pillows to stuff them.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for pointing that out! We are updating those details now!

    • Jennifer

5 below has the sequined pillows.

  7. Becky

We have 4 kids….2 are teens. The teen girls are getting 4 things: “something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read.”

    • Jennifer

We are doing the same with our children this year. They are 10, 5 and 2.

  8. Me Myself & I

I’m SO happy you had some non-tech stuff. The kids all have too much tech stuff. I like the photo display. It’s so change-able and pics are so cheap to make….plus you can add cards and other mementos. Great idea. Thanks!

  9. Heather

Any codes to use for the pop sockets?? Those are so cute (the trio’s)!!! 🙂

  10. laurel

Great ideas! Thanks so much for the post:)

  11. KB

I don’t have a teen yet but I’m loving the photo display. Might need to add that to my list! 😍

  12. Mel

Any ideas for stocking stuffers for boys (15-18 yrs old) ? I used to do those blind bags (halo, marvel, nfl teeny mates) but they’re not so much into those now!

    • Vintagemidge

I have a 15 yr old boy. Hes getting beef jerky, candy, crew hair pomade, gift card to Micky D’s, nail clippers (what every kid dreams of), and a Goldbergs dvd. Hard to think of stuff for them. Food always seems to be welcomed. 🙂

      • Cakes

I got my 15-year-Old son nail clippers too! He always borrows Dad’s & doesn’t bring them back.🤪

      • Mel

Thanks! Now I’ve got my brain juices flowing!! So I’m thinking a bag of jerky (or beef sticks), a theater candy box, $5 AMC GC. Maybe a pack of gum or tic tacs, small body spray or silly keychain.

    • Danielle

For some of my son’s stocking stuffers I include some small trivia games, or a pack of sneaky cards.

    • Meredith

I have three boys, 20, 18 and 14. We started doing scratch off lottery tickets in their stockings in the last couple of years and they just love it! We also have done a charging cord, cheap skull candy headphones, the Target Men’s Beauty box, pop-sockets, gas gift card and a gift card for the movies and some candy. The nail clippers is such a good idea too!

  13. Karina

Thank you so much for this post!

  14. I❤Cats

Great ideas, thank you so much!

Anyone know how urban Decay all nighter compares to morphie spray??

  15. Jenny

Thank you so much! I was stumped on ideas for for almost-teen daughter. I’m getting her an Instax photo album.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

You’re very welcome, Jenny! Such a great gift!

  16. Jen

Love the wallet idea! Great ideas in this article, and I get the goal behind your catchy headline, but I would caution moms — please, please, please do not spend your energy trying to be the cool mom. You cannot recapture your youth, nor are you meant to. It makes me sad to see moms trying to match coolness or compete with their younger, thinner daughters. Please just be the loving and present mom, and everyone will be better for it.

  17. Alesa

I love to read the comments for extra deals and ideas! I have a tween into skateboards/scooters. So, I am getting things like scooter pegs, wax, grip, tape, etc. My tween also wants: iTunes giftcard, seamless socks, UA boxers, and Jack Links jerky. There was also a request for pocket change.
